Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Matthew wrote on Live and Let’s Fly about a new problem found with the undelivered Boeing 737-MAX planes sitting at the factory. Unlike the software issue from before, this one is due to the work done on the production line. The story for Boeing just keeps getting worse instead of better.
- A post on Miles for Family tells of an upcoming trip to Japan that’s now in doubt due to the coronavirus outbreak. They are now trying to figure out alternate plans in case they have to scrap the trip, which is the best way to approach a situation like this.
- This post on The World According to Dev shows how someone who’s newer to the credit card sign-up bonus game can tweak their current card portfolio. She did a product change from a generic card to one that earns valuable points. This keeps the account history alive, which is important for your credit score. You’ll miss out on a sign-up bonus when doing this, but if you want a card for the benefits and it doesn’t offer a large initial bonus, this is a good trick to remember. Product changes are also an option when you want to get rid of a card with a high annual fee, like the AMEX Platinum, but want to keep the account open.
- Miles to Memories writes about the addition of two hotel chains as transfer partners of Capital One and an improvement in the exchange ratio when sending miles to JetBlue. Capital One changing their program from a fixed value point system to flexible points with the ability to transfer points to partners has been a welcome change. The fact they’re adding some of the less-known programs as partners makes their cards more interesting.
- Have you ever wanted to stay at a hotel, but the room type you need isn’t available? On One Mile at a Time, Ben wrote about a website that will track hotel inventory and alert you if/when your preferred room becomes available. This service would compliment this website that will alert you when award seats are available for a flight you want to take.
- Travel Codex reviewed one of the Club at MCO locations and has plenty of pictures to show what you’re getting. We also have a post that gives information about all of the lounges of Orlando Airport.
- Gary from View From the Wing provides an exhaustive post that shows you if you’re going to receive a meal or a snack on your American Airlines flights. If you’re going to get a meal, we found a website that will help you learn about the food that will be served aboard your flight.
