Traveling Around The U.S.? Here’s What Some People Think Of Their Home States

by joeheg

If you listen to America The Beautiful or God Bless America, you’d think that our country is nothing but waving fields of grain between the sea to shining sea. It’s true that the United States has many wonders that most people take for granted. From the beauty of our National Parks to the variety of landscapes you’re able to visit with just a road trip, there are many places worse to be “trapped” with your passport than the U.S.A. While some states have issued quarantine orders from visitors from other hot-spot states, you’re still able to travel if you’re willing to be subject to the rules.

Then why is it that many people don’t think very highly of their home state?

On Reddit, someone from Europe asked Americans to summarize their state in one sentence. As you’d expect, not everyone loves where they live. I guess it’s a part of the grass being greener on the other side but what some people dislike about their state is what others love about visiting. Well, except when people hate the other people in their state, which there’s really nothing we can do about.

A summary of the funniest comments for each state can be found here.

Here are some of the best ones (with scenic pictures):

I’ve been to both Huntsville and Mobile and had a great time in both cities. This is also the state where I was introduced to Krispy Kreme bread pudding, which might explain their high ranking for the number of residents with diabetes (or, if you will, “diabetus.” R.I.P., Wilford Brimley).

Never been but sounds accurate from what I’ve seen on North Woods Law.

Nice people. Bad weather. Likes hockey. Sounds like Canada.

1000% accurate and we still love visiting every year (except in 2020).

I spent a cold, rain/snow-filled month in Seattle one weekend.
