We needed a place to stay for a quick overnight in Cape Canaveral, FL. Since I needed to burn some free night certificates, I looked for places nearby.
Fortunately, we found this nice hotel that fits all of those needs.
RESIDENCE INN CAPE CANAVERAL COCOA BEACH
8959 Astronaut Blvd.
Cape Canaveral, Florida
The Residence Inn is part of the Marriott Bonvoy family of hotels and is a Category 5 property. Free nights cost 30,000 points for Off-Peak, 35,000 for a Standard reward and 40,000 for a Peak night redemption. That means you’ll be able to use a free night from the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card for all but peak nights.
The hotel has 150 guest rooms and was built in 2005. On top of the room rate, there’s a $10 daily fee for parking at the hotel.
Located on the northern tip of Cape Canaveral, the hotel has a great location to visit the Kennedy Space Center. It’s also close to the cruise terminals for when you’ll be able to take a cruise from Port Canaveral again. Finally, it only takes a few minutes to drive to Cocoa Beach.
Check-in at the lobby was quick. We were upgraded from a studio to a one-bedroom suite, presumably because of Sharon’s Platinum status with Marriott.
This is also where they serve the free hot breakfast.
The hotel has a nice outdoor area with a pool and fire pit. There’s also an exercise room.
All rooms at Residence Inn are suites that include a kitchen, living area and bedroom.
As we’ve found with most extended stay hotels, you tend to enter through the kitchen.
There was a small table for the kitchen and then the living room, which was quite large. The couch is a sofa bed.
There was some wear and tear with a stain on the couch but we weren’t staying for long. It was nice to see a full-size desk and chair with a view out the window.
Then you had the bedroom area. We booked a king room but they also have rooms with 2 queen beds.
The bedroom wasn’t large, with not much more space than for the bed and furniture.
The bathroom was split into two areas. The first with the sink and mirror. While there was only one sink, there was plenty of counter space. Behind that was the toilet and bath/shower combo.
Final Thoughts
Room rates here can often go for more than $250 a night, so it’s a great place to use a free night certificate or even get a decent value redeeming points.
If you’re staying here for an extended period or are traveling with the family and want a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach is a solid choice.
