When I needed to book another one-night stay in Cape Canaveral, FL, I had an additional thing to consider. Besides hopefully being able to book a room using a free night certificate, we’d be meeting friends so I had to keep the cash price of the room in mind.
I looked at the Residence Inn we’ve stayed at before. Award nights were available for 35,000 points but the cash price for a room was over $200. It would have been fine if it was just us but not a good fit for this trip.
I noticed there was a SpringHill Suites just a few minutes away. Award nights were also 35K but cash prices for rooms were more reasonable, around $120 for a weeknight stay.

If the hotel looks new, that’s because it is. The property opened in the summer of 2020 and with no cruise passengers, I’d say that it’s undoubtedly seen less traffic than expected.
The check-in desk area was large enough to handle multiple guests.
The grab-and-go pantry was located nearby.
After being thanked for our loyalty as a Platinum member and selecting the 500 points over the F&B credit, we headed to the room. The hallways were plain except for the splashed of color from the carpeting.
Upon entering the room, it had a different layout from other “suites” properties we stayed in. There is an attempt to separate the living space from the sleeping space.
The desk was well designed with a light and plenty of plugs and there’s a sliding panel if you’d like to work without staring at the beds.
There were also small touches that you’d usually expect at a nicer hotel, like this note.
The living space has a desk and a couch with a wall-mounted TV. The couch is a sofa bed, giving the room a max capacity of five persons.
The sleeping space contained two queen-sized beds. Unfortunately, the room failed the nightstand test with only a single table between the beds.
This area also had its own television, which is nice so that you can watch from either space. You could also have groups watching two different shows but I’d imagine there’d be plenty of audio mixing.
The mini-bar area contained the typical fridge (with turbo chill function), microwave and coffee maker.
The bathroom was clean and that’s all I want from a mid-range hotel.
All SpringHill Suites provide a free breakfast. The breakfast spread was one of the larger ones I’ve seen.
As well as a large seating center in the lobby.
For amenities, there’s a decently equipped exercise room.
The outdoor pool looks nice for a hotel that’s not a destination.
There’s also a poolside bar with a fire pit.
Final Thoughts
The SpringHill Suites was a great place to stay in Cape Canaveral and I could see this being a very popular spot for families before heading out on a cruise leaving Port Canaveral. It was a wonderful place to use a 35K free night certificate and be a good value for a cash stay. Between this hotel and the Residence Inn down the road, Marriott has plenty of choices if looking for a place to stay in Cape Canaveral.
