Joe and I have been married for close to 20 years and we knew each other for over 10 years before that. In all that time, we have never, ever traveled during Christmas. It’s just way too crazy busy for us.
That being said, we know that lots of people DO travel at Christmastime, either to spend the holiday with family, or because they find it a good time to vacation.
According to an estimate from AAA, more than 109 million Americans plan to travel this holiday season, Omicron notwithstanding. Lots of passengers equal lots of flights. However there’s also a continued shortage of airline employees, on top of who knows what else could happen…mechanical issues, weather, etc. Delayed or even canceled flights should be expected as a worst-case scenario. So if you’re planning on flying this holiday, make sure you have a Plan B (and maybe Plan C, too) ready.
To make those travel hiccoughs a little less painful, Shake Shack has a delicious offer going on.
From today, December 22 through Friday, December 24, travelers departing from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City can get free fries in one of Shake Shack’s two airport locations if their flight is delayed or canceled, the burger chain announced on Monday.
Travelers in Terminal 4 only have to show proof of delay or cancellation on their mobile device to claim a box of Shake Shack’s classic crispy crinkle-cut fries.
Travelers at other U.S. airports can also receive a voucher for free Shake Shack fries if they post a selfie in front of their departure gate that shows their plane is delayed or cancelled, and then tag Shake Shack (@shakeshack) on Instagram.
“At Shake Shack, we have always been focused on creating uplifting experiences for our guests,” Shake Shack CMO Jack Livingston said in a press release. “We know the holidays can be stressful, so we created this campaign to bring some fan excitement, especially in some of the busiest and crowded places around the holiday – the airport.”
Shake Shack has given free fries at other times – with proof of COVID vaccination, to celebrate its then-new partnership with Uber Eats, when people have voted, etc. Their fries are yummy so… 😉
