We Booked This Beachside Resort With An IHG Free Night Certificate

There are several options if you’re looking to stay at Cape Canaveral. All of the major chains are represented, except for Hyatt, and most of them have several different brands catering to different types of travelers.

You can find basic accommodations from Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Country Inn & Suites for people looking for a room before a cruise. With many families visiting the area, several hotels offer larger rooms like Homewood Suites, Residence Inn, and Springhill Suites. While all of these hotels are near the ocean, none are beachfront hotels. You’ll most likely have a parking lot view, possibly with a cruise ship in the distance.

One property is more suited for people looking for a beach vacation. Besides having studio rooms with a kitchen area, they also offer 1 and 2 bedroom villas.

The resort is part of the Holiday Inn Club Vacations timeshare division, but you don’t have to be a member to stay there. Rooms are bookable on the IHG website and you can redeem IHG Rewards points for a stay. For the night we visited, a studio room was available for 35,000 points, so we booked using the free night from the IHG Preferred card.

The property is quite large, with 206 studios and villas spread between three buildings. There’s a tram that travels between building 1 and building 2 (which is closer to the beach)

The main building houses the front desk, marketplace, business center, bar/grill, laundry and a game room.

Building 1 is also where you’ll find all of the studio rooms, which are situated around the inner courtyard.

Our room, 1302B, was located towards the end of the wing. This window was the only way to get natural light in the room.

The layout was one long space. You enter into the living room area.

The decor is a bit dated. There’s a flatscreen TV on the dresser, which is the only TV in the room. I hope you don’t like to watch TV from bed. The door connects to the adjacent one-bedroom villa. a room with a bed and a couch

Past the 1/2 wall and chair in the middle of the room, is the king-size bed.

There was a clock/power hub on one side of the bed but it wasn’t plugged in.

The bedroom area also doubled as the kitchen. Without a TV, you can always watch the microwave clock for entertainment, I guess.

At the back of the unit was the bathroom.

I don’t understand the decision to put a massive bathtub in a studio room where, if you’re relaxing, your head is against the toilet.

Since we only stayed overnight, we didn’t get to explore the property much. Not a good way to get value from the $11 daily resort fee which covers:

fitness center, sports courts, business center, two outdoor pools and hot tubs, along with access to the lazy river. Game room, mini golf, movie theater, select on-site activities and entertainment.

The public areas looked fine. There was the main swimming pool.

and a large hot tub.

There is a mini-golf course in the middle of the main building’s open area.

And a small playground for the tykes.

Finally, the parking for the complex is in two adjacent garages. One of them is connected to the main building by an outdoor walkway, which can be problematic if you want to get to your car during a Florida thunderstorm. Additionally, only six of the thirty-six lights in the garage were working during our visit.

Final thoughts

While many things about this property are not perfect, we’d stay again if we could find space with our IHG free night. In addition, the pictures on the website of the two-bedroom villas look like they’ve recently been renovated. Unfortunately, you can’t book those rooms with IHG points.

However, we’re not going to the Cape for a beach vacation since we already own Disney’s timeshare and can visit Vero Beach when we want. With so many options in Cape Canaveral, this isn’t going to be at the top of our list.
