American Express is targeting accounts with some massive offers for business customers. We’ve received emails with competing offers when signing up for an AMEX Business Card and an AMEX Business Checking account.
While both offers provide a large number of Membership Rewards points when you complete the requirements, AMEX will throw in bonus points when you meet both signup offers.
Here’s the first offer that Sharon received by email:
The 160,000 point offer is divided into three parts.
- 90,000 points for signing up for a Business Gold card and spending $10,000 in the first 3 months
- 60,000 points for opening an AMEX Business Checking account, depositing $5,000 (and keeping a balance over $5,000 for 60 days) and completing 10 qualifying transactions within 60 days.
- 10,000 bonus points for meeting all qualifying activities for both offers.
The next day, she received this offer:
This 230,000 point offer also has 3 parts:
- 150,000 points for signing up for a Business Platinum card and spending $15,000 or more in the first 3 months
- 60,000 points for opening an AMEX Business Checking account, depositing $5,000 (and keeping a balance over $5,000 for 60 days) and completing 10 qualifying transactions within 60 days.
- 20,000 bonus points for meeting all qualifying activities for both offers.
The fine print says that you must apply for each offer from the link in the email to be eligible for the bonus points. Since it’s an offer from AMEX, I suggest following all the rules if you get a similar email.
If you didn’t get an email, I’ve also seen a pop-up box for a similar offer when logging into the AMEX website. In addition, you can see if there’s a mention of an offer on your account home page.
If you were looking to sign up for an AMEX business card for a large signup bonus, you might be able to add on a business checking account and get even more Membership Rewards.
