I didn’t see this email until I got home last evening, so there’s less than a day for you to save 20% on award tickets on JetBlue. In celebration of the re-launch of the TrueBlue loyalty program, JetBlue is taking 20% off the number of points to book an award ticket.
Since JetBlue’s TrueBlue loyalty scheme is essentially a fixed-value program, the number of points needed for a ticket is linked to the cash price of the same flight. While it’s challenging to get outside value on redemptions, there’s a certainty in knowing what your points are worth.
However, taking advantage of the times when your points are worth more than usual is crucial. You can do that by taking advantage of JetBlue’s “Fewer Points, More Travel” sale.
According to the promotion rules, fares must be purchased only on jetblue.com using TrueBlue points between 5/15/2023 and 5/16/2023 (the earlier of 11:59 PM EST or local) for flights between 5/15/2023 and 6/21/2023. Fares will automatically include a 20% discount on the base fare point requirement for Award Flight redemption.
There are additional carve-outs:
- Excludes travel in Mint class.
- Offer is not available on transatlantic flights.
- Blue Basic fares are not available for redemption with points, so they are ineligible for the discount.
JetBlue excludes the most expensive and least expensive flights from this promotion. JetBlue also states that the sale price can not be applied to any existing reservation.
While this is true, TrueBlue allows customers to cancel award flights without a penalty. If you have an award ticket booked with JetBlue for travel through 6/21, it will pay to check if it costs less with the sale. If so, you can cancel your flight and rebook to save 20%.
