It wasn’t long ago when I received an AMEX Offer titled “Shop in France,” which offered $40 back when spending $200 on up to 10 purchases, up to $400. It wasn’t until I checked the fine print that I saw the offer is only good at a few merchants in Paris.
Apparently American Express is doubling down on this style of promotion as I just received an email promoting their “Shop in the UK” AMEX Offer.
Not as lucrative an offer, this one is only for $20 back on spending $100 up to 8 times (for a max of $160).
Just like the France offer, this one is only good at a limited number of locations:
- May Fair Kitchen
- Whitcomb’s
- Bicester Village (multiple locations)
- Heathrow Express
- Go City
- Guerlain Paris
- Hawes & Curtis
- Charles Tyrwhitt
Unlike the France offer, there’s not even a hotel included in the deal. The only thing we’d ever use would be the Heathrow Express.
You can find a full list of the participating locations on this AMEX website. If you’re going to sign up for the offer, be sure to enroll your AMEX card, which doesn’t charge an international transaction fee.

This offer is meh x 3.
The Marriott $120 and $100 offers put $220 right into my pocket.
There’s also one for Italy.
“Not as lucrative an offer” I beg to differ… While the total back may not be as “lucrative” they are both 20% off. As you note the limited places these can be used, the smaller spend to get your money back could make this one a better deal.
I don’t understand the hostility about these offers. Yes, you get excited when you see the headline, and disappointed when you see the details, but so what? It’s about 10 seconds of your life wasted on a potential lead.
