This Hertz Sale Was Impossible To Believe

by joeheg

I’m not a big fan of flash sales. They often require last-minute planning, which can be difficult to manage if you prefer to plan ahead and have a busy schedule. Since I’m not always attached to my email, I sometimes miss out on the best prices, leaving me with limited options that I’m not interested in. While flash sales may work for some, they’re not the best fit for me.

I do like to keep an eye on those special offers, just in case there’s a chance for me to take advantage of them. You never know, there might come a time when they come in handy.

But I’ve never seen an offer like the one I got from Hertz the other day.

When I checked my email, I was presented with an offer that was impossible to take advantage of.

I could save 30% on Fall car rentals if I booked by September 7th. The problem was that I received the email at 1:22 AM on September 8th.

Granted, I live in Florida, where we have Eastern Time. Had I lived in California, I guess I would’ve had a whopping 2 hours and 38 minutes to take advantage. People who live in Mountain Time would’ve had barely a half hour to make plans (ya snooze, ya lose!). And you Central Time people? Too late!

I figured it might be a typo or glitch so I clicked on the ad which took me to the Hertz website. There I was told that the offer was no longer available.

That’s certainly one way to limit the number of people who book discounted rentals. Only time travelers may take advantage and the rest of us find out after the sale is already over. 🙂

After a company makes a mistake, they usually send out an email apologizing. However, Hertz hasn’t sent out any apology email for sending a discount code after the sale has ended. But when it comes to dealing with Hertz, getting an offer for a sale after it’s over is probably the least of your problems.
