Major Backlash Against Woman Who Tattled on Delta Flight Attendants In Bid to Get Skymiles

by SharonKurheg

There are a couple of life lessons that most of us learn when we’re pretty young:

  1. Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me
  2. Look for the helpers
  3. Nobody likes a tattletale

It hasn’t been a good week for Dr. Angela Peery, but it’s kind of her own fault; she apparently never learned life lesson #3.

According to Google Books, Angela B. Peery is a teacher specialist for the South Carolina Department of Education, adjunct faculty member of the Graduate School of Education at Coastal Carolina University, co-director of the Coastal Area Writing Project, and a former high school English teacher and assistant principal.

Anyway, in September 2023, Peery was apparently on a Delta flight between Louisville and Atlanta. A frequent flyer with the brand, she took to a Facebook group for Delta Diamond Medallion members to brag about how she had tattled on a Delta flight attendant (NSFW warning – adult language).

Wrote my complaint about Joshua, the FA who hid in the galley and was overall shi**y SDF-ATL Wed. (See previous post.) Got a personal call from a Delta customer servie agent and 8500 Skypesos! Winning!

Fast forward to March 2024, when she boasted in the same group about ratting out several FAs who appeared to be using their phones on flights.

a man sitting in a locker

This will be the third photo I’ve sent to Delta in two weeks. Three out of four flights, FAs on their devices. This one is clever — hiding it behind the Delta device. ATL-LIT, while headed toward takeoff.

The post apparently caused an uproar, with 172 comments. I can’t see any of the comments because (A) I’m not in that particular FB group and (B) even if I wanted to join it, the group has apparently changed its status to “Secret.” (That means it can’t be seen unless you’re a member of the group or invited to it. Even its group title is hidden.) But I did find one response to her post, that was shared on a Reddit forum. I won’t link the post so the author of the reply can remain anonymous, but their response to Peery was:

Angela Peery – seriously!? I usually don’t call out people by name but you calling out a FA who sitting down on their phone while taxiing is absolutely a crock of @#!%. Did you even consider FA’s might be messaging their family/loved ones saying they miss them, checking on them, can’t wait to see them. The fact that you even posted this just makes me see the worst in people at times. Did these FA’s not meet your needs or the needs of ALL the other passengers during the flight when they could actually perform their role?
To any FA who sees this, thank you for all you do and the time you take away from your loved ones to make my flight experience a great one.

So Peery decided to write an update to her post:

a screenshot of a phone

UPDATE: It is against Delta policy to ANY employee to have their personal phone in view while working, even reservation agents. A Delta customer service agent called 4 hours after I sent my email and left a long, apologetic voicemail. She said, “You are 100% corrent, and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.” Fas can only use their Sky Pro (Delta) device in flight and only in airplane mode and at certain times as directly related to safety.
So for those who said I should mind my own business or stop being a Karen, BE AWARE — this is a safety violation and a FIREABLE OFFENSE. Kind of a BIG DEAL. You should NOT see an FA using a personal device EVER unless on crew rest. (This was a 75-minute flight.)
Y’all have fun over in SkyMiles Life, DL apologists! 😂 And kiss my grits!

This all went down in early March. And then a couple of days ago, it started hitting social media big time.

Now, I’ve got a quick story for you. When I was a kid, my father had a problem with some of his teeth. The dentist he used made a huge mistake that caused issues in my dad’s mouth for the rest of his life. My parents contemplated suing this dentist, but they needed another dentist to act as an expert witness in the case. They couldn’t find even one dentist who was willing to say, on record, that this dentist had messed up. Dentists (and, in my experience, most medical professionals – I worked in an allied health profession for decades) stick up for one another.

And the same thing apparently goes for flight attendants.

Granted, being a flight attendant can have its challenges. Getting assigned to flights can be competitive and because there are so many different personalities involved, there can be some backbiting, too. But when push comes to shove, FAs will stand united and if you mess with one (or in this case, three or four, or maybe more) it’s like messing with them all. And word got out about what Dr. Angela Peery did.

Here’s what’s happened in recent days

  • There are groups by/for FAs on Facebook and Reddit, as well as a Delta subreddit that are absolutely SKEWERING this woman
  • Peery has written a handful of books that are sold on Amazon, and multiple people have given the books “1 star” reviews. Amazon eventually shut down reviews for her books, unless they had been purchased, but here are a couple of examples of what was being done:
    a screenshot of a book
    a screenshot of a review
  • As I mentioned earlier, The Official Delta Diamond Medallion Group group on Facebook disappeared from the public eye. But their admins wrote to the admins (warning: NSFW – adult language) on one on the FA Reddit groups (who then posted it for their members to see).
  • Peery is getting threats.
a screenshot of a social media post

Our take on this

Obviously, threats are never an appropriate way to handle any situation. And petty revenge such as giving her books low reviews is pretty childish.

Of course, airlines have rules for reasons. No flight attendant should ever be rude, and if the rule for FAs is to not be using personally devices at certain times, they shouldn’t be doing it.

That being said, taking photographs of FAs (which is also against the rules), ratting FAs out, boasting that you got 8500 Skymiles for doing so, and therefore are “winning!,” is not a good look.

What have we learned?

  • Remember that life lesson #3: No one likes a tattletale
  • If you’re going to be a tattletale, boasting about it without some sort of anonymity is just plain STUPID. Having a doctorate apparently doesn’t always mean you’re smart.
  • Buc-ee’s fan might appreciate this one:

its sad that someone thinks it is their business to tattle tale…. if that affected her in any way – sure… but does she work for Delta? no so none of her business, was the FA rude to her – no – none of her business, did she receive bad service – no – none of her business. was the FA able to be serving her at the time and didnt – no – none of her business.
so all in all – none of her business – she needs a new hobby.

It goes both ways. If the FA is on a personal device and they get reported for not maintaining standards, it is on them. They know the rules.

Remember that Wells Fargo woman that got sucked out of the airplane window? The universe and life always finds room for Karma, even at 30,000 ft.

I was a flight attendant with two small children at home. Sometimes my days were 15 hours long with tight connections. So, I took whatever moment I could to check in on my littles. This lady sounds entitled and snobbish. Good for this tight knit community for standing up for one another. Taking pics of people and posting on SM without their permission is another a$$hole move. I wouldn’t buy her books if they were the last ones on the shelves.

Agreed‼️
Being a retired stew, I’ve dealt with difficult passengers on several occasions
What they don’t get is the long work days, demanding passengers, being gone for all major holidays etc etc Glad she’s reaping what she’s sewn ‼️

She SAID she’s getting ‘threats’ without any proof of such (oh and the FBI is involved). What a loon.

I don’t support tattling usually but it’s nice to see flight attendants get held accountable for their labor violations and failure to do their job they are paid to do. Flight attendants have a tendency to abuse their authority over flight safety to persecute and penalize passengers who complain about their poor service and poor behavior. It’s nice that flight attendants will think twice about performing poorly as someone is watching and corporate is listening to paying passengers. I wish corporate had more secret monitors it would send on flights so flight attendants can be dragged off planes upon arrival if they really do something foul.

Labor violation? Dragged off planes? I bet there’s a reason you get poor service.

Then let Delta hold Peery responsible for violating the terms of the contract of carrier agreement she signs every time she books a flight (“Use of still and video cameras, film or digital, is permitted only for recording personal events. Photography or video recording of airline personnel, equipment, or procedures is strictly prohibited.”) and for failing to get a model release and profiting the value of 8,500 SkyMiles.

Please site what labor violations this flight attendant verifiably performed, actual proof that use of a personal pastime on the jumpseat occurred (all we can see is a cell phone being held) and at what point anyone on this flight was dragged off the plane.

This guy tried to pick up a FA once and it didn’t work. #nevergotlaid

Actually we should support tattle tales and whistleblowers. Unfortunately we despise them and murder them when possible whereas we should be celebrating and encouraging them.

If someone is acting in a way that may endanger you or provide you horrible service, you are completely within your rights to report this. If these employees do not like it, than behave more responsible. Seeing an FA engrossed in her phone while not paying attention to where the aircraft it, may cost lives in case of emergencies where every moment counts. I would not want a FA to be focused on her phone on the taxiway before takeoff or landing.

Not all laws (or rules) are ethical and worthy if being followed. f**k this lady and anyone that thinks a company can treat employees like children.

Whether she accepts it or not she is the very defining a Karen. BTW – all the BS she posted about safety and work rules I bet if she didn’t think she could shake down DL for a few measly Skymiles she wouldn’t care so much.

Sad and pathetic person. Hopefully since her name is out there she gets horrible treatment in the future. Karma is a b**** as she hopefully will find out.

As a flight attendant, you don’t have to go into brace position/ silent review until you get the takeoff chimes/announcement until you are second in line for takeoff. I am usually loading my flight into a flight tracker app ( Flighty) and setting a secondary timer for all of those passengers who ask me every 15 minutes how much longer despite being given the flight time numerous times. So as far as I’m concerned, I am doing my job

If you want to see more on this and the hudtory of Dr. Perry which apparently goes back 10 years, there is a newspaper in the UK called the Daily Mail, it has the story and the comments there make a interesting read.

Veteran flight attendant here.

The one time I have used my personal cell phone in flight, in 28 years, was when I received an ACARS message from the pilots from the company to immediately contact my family upon landing in two hours.

My father, who was 7,000 miles away, was in hospice and I was on a 13-hour duty day. With permission from my flight leader, and while in airplane mode and out of sight of passenger view, I connected to WiFi to receive a message my father had maybe an hour to live. I wasn’t able to see him, hold his hand, tell him I love him, or thank him for being the man who loved me and encouraged me to see the world, even though I was afraid to fly growing up.

Despite this, and holding back tears, and with the help of my crew, all service and duties were performed and we landed safely.

The assumption that flight attendants cannot or should not handle any personal matters during an average 12-16 hour duty day, up to 26 days a month, such as eating, drinking, using the bathroom, sitting down for five minutes between duties, checking their schedules or in with family, and are incapable of also being simultaneously cognizant and ready to respond to any number of safety issues that should arrive, is unreasonable.

How many of you sitting at an exit row would be willing, on a 16 hour flight to Johannesburg , to go forgo all those things? After all, you agreed to the duties and responsibilities of sitting there.

Some people will go to great lengths to get attention. Children will often seek negative attention rather than no attention at all.

This made it all the way to tiktok. Sadly, entitled people like angela peery never learn their lesson, so expecting an apology from her is a study in futility. There’s something not quite right mentally with that one. Next time, ms. peery, you feel compelled to pull out your phone to destroy someone else’s life, remember yours can be easily destroyed as well. It’s called karma. Mind your business. Enjoy your next trip on Greyhound.

Ella por un poco de millas expone la imagen del FA sin su autorizacion eso es ilegal , busque una pareja sea feliz , dediquese a trabajar en ser mejor persona ya nos confirmó que puede tener todos los titulos pero le falta el mas importante .

(YMMV says: English translation, as per Google Translate: She for a few miles exposes the image of the FA without his authorization, that is illegal, look for a happy partner, dedicate yourself to working on being a better person, she already confirmed to us that she can have all the titles but she is missing the most important one.)
