Some people have no idea of what a flight attendant’s job entails. You can sometimes tell when they don’t, because of the things some passengers ask flight attendants to do that don’t have anything to do with their job description. And despite some blockheads thinking that the main job of a “stewardess” (yeah, if they call them that is to serve passengers their drinks/snacks/meals and answer questions (Fun Fact! You can ask them stuff, but sometimes flight attendants lie), the main goal of a flight attendant’s work is to keep us safe in the event of an emergency.
Of course, sometimes there have been times that flight attendants have spoken out about safety, conditions, etc. And if someone is doing something potentially unsafe while on the plane, they’ll correct the passenger. Examples would include:
- Ensuring your seat back is upright and locked during take off and landing (here’s why)
- Instructing you when/if to have the window shade up or down (again, here’s why. They also make the call on lights in the cabin being on or off)
Sometimes the flight attendant will try to cover everyone on a safety issue by using the PA system. And recently, well, I guess a flight attendant was just “done” because I’ve never heard an FA publicly shame passengers like this. Take a listen:
Some people suggested she was talking to them as if they were toddlers, but you know what? Sometimes if someone is acting like a toddler, they have to be treated like one. Good on her!
