Back in 2020, the world lost a lot of airlines. It makes sense – thanks to COVID-19, smart people stayed home, which meant significantly fewer people were in the air.
2021 also had its share of Covid-related closures, although not as many as 2020. By 2022 and 2023, the number of airlines closing up shop was a typical number.
2025 is brand new, so let’s see which airlines disappeared in 2024:
January
- Albawings (Albania)
- Fly Arna (Albania)
- LIAT (Antigua and Barbuda)
February
- Lynx Air (Canada)
March
- Air Bucharest (Romania)
- Air Malta (Malta)
- HumoAir (Uzbekistan)
- New Pacific Airlines (USA)
April
- Bonza (Australia)
- iAero Airways (previously Swift Air) (USA)
- Taos Air (USA)
May
- Go First (India)
- Nigeria Air (Nigeria)
June
- Céleste (France)
- JetAir Caribbean (Curacao)
July

August
- Canada Jetlines (Canada)
- Lanmei Airlines (Cambodia)
September
- OTT Airlines (China)
October
- AIX Connect (India)
- CSA Czech Airlines (Czechia)
- Eagle Air (Iceland)
- FlyEgypt (Egypt)
- WestJet Link (Canada)
November
- Nordica (Estonia)
- Vistara (India)
December

Meanwhile, it’s not all bad news: several new commercial airlines began as startups in 2024:
- FlyGabon (Gabon)
- KM Malta Airlines (Malta)
- LIAT20 (Antigua and Barbuda)
- Mont Gabaon Airlines (Democratic Republic of Congo)
