This Four Seasons Project Turned Heads – Now It’s One Step Closer to Reality

by joeheg

While there’s often a lot of buzz when a new hotel is announced, it can be a long and twisty road before the property finally opens its doors. Projects can hit snags for all kinds of reasons—construction delays, financing hiccups, permitting issues—and unless we’re talking about a super high-profile spot, it’s easy for a hotel to quietly fall off the radar. In some cases, the hotel might never open at all, fading into the category of “what could’ve been.” In others, it may re-emerge, years later, in a different form altogether.

A Surprising Location for a Luxury Brand

One project that caught a lot of people off guard when it was first announced is still quietly moving forward—and it just hit a major milestone.

When word got out that the next Four Seasons hotel in Florida would be located in Jacksonville, many people did a double-take. While Jacksonville is technically one of the largest cities in the state, it’s not exactly known as a tourist magnet, let alone a hub for high-end luxury accommodations. We covered the initial surprise when the news first dropped, and to be honest, we haven’t heard much since.

Quiet Progress Behind the Scenes

But while everyone’s been looking elsewhere, the Four Seasons Hotel & Residences in Jacksonville has quietly passed a key checkpoint: the city just issued a permit to begin construction on the hotel’s roof. That might sound minor, but it’s a clear sign that vertical progress is underway—this project is no longer just a hole in the ground.

What’s Planned for the Property

According to this recent report from the Jacksonville Daily Record, the 10-story property will feature 170 hotel rooms and 26 residential units spread across nearly 5 acres. The plans also include a spa, multiple restaurants, ballrooms, bars, pools, and the usual array of Four Seasons-level amenities.

Eyes on 2026

If all goes to plan, the hotel is slated to open sometime in 2026. That still feels a long way off, but it’s a good reminder that even the most unexpected hotel announcements can slowly but surely come to life—if you’re patient enough to wait.
