Three More Down — Sharon’s JetBlue Challenge Nears the Finish Line

by joeheg

We’re officially in the home stretch — and this time, my wife Sharon tackled three new airports on what will be her final overnight trip of JetBlue’s ambitious 25-for-25 promotion.

This run required some aggressive routing: four flights on Day 1 and three on Day 2, all to keep her “only one night away” rule intact. It wasn’t glamorous, but it worked.

Day 1: Orlando – Boston – Philadelphia – Boston – Syracuse

Sharon hit the road early for a 7 a.m. departure to Boston. Because she arrived before the Plaza Premium Lounge at MCO opened, she had to wait until BOS to reset — and, as has become routine, she headed straight for the Chase Sapphire Lounge. She just missed breakfast and her last chance at an airport omelet.

From Boston, she hopped down to Philadelphia (PHL) — airport #21. Initially, this was supposed to be a quick turn, but the return to BOS was delayed due to ongoing runway construction. That set off a cascade: the “plenty of time” buffer evaporated, and she became the last person to board her connection to Syracuse. She shared the full story here: This JetBlue delay nearly ruined the whole day.

By the end of Day 1, two more boxes were checked:

  • 21: Philadelphia
  • 22: Syracuse

For the overnight, she used a free night certificate from the IHG Premier Card at the Holiday Inn Syracuse Airport – Liverpool, which is close to the airport, highly rated, and exactly what she needed after a long day.

Day 2: Syracuse – New York (JFK) – Chicago (ORD) – Orlando

An early start kicked off the final day. First stop was JFK, where she kept the tradition alive with another NYC bagel — likely the last one of this journey’s airport path.

Next up: Chicago O’Hare (ORD) for airport #23 — and a planned stop at Garrett Popcorn. She even left her travel pillow at home to make space for two bags of caramel-and-cheese goodness. Priorities.

With no nonstop JetBlue service from Chicago to Orlando, the last leg home was on United. She immediately missed JetBlue: the seat wasn’t as comfortable and the onboard Wi-Fi wasn’t working — something she hasn’t run into on any of her JetBlue flights.

She still landed home safe — and, more importantly, with 23 out of 25 airports completed.

Where We Stand

  • Airports completed: 23 / 25 (PHL → SYR → ORD)
  • Flights taken: 33
  • Hotels stayed: 8 (adds Holiday Inn Syracuse Airport – Liverpool)
  • Lounges visited this run: Chase Sapphire BOS and PHL
  • NY bagels so far: 4
  • Souvenir haul: 2 bags of Garrett’s Popcorn, 1 Christmas tree ornament of Boston, “Because I stopped there so many times!”

What’s Next

The final stretch isn’t flashy — just two more out-and-back day trips from Orlando. Next up, Sharon is heading out to pick up one of her favorite fall treats (because even mileage runs deserve a seasonal snack). After that, we’ll hit pause for a few weeks while we take a real vacation — and since that airport is already checked off the list, it won’t help the promo. When we get back, she’ll tackle the last city and cross that 25-airport finish line, once and for all.
