Hilton Honors is back with its first promotion of 2026, and—credit where it’s due—they dusted off an older name instead of cycling through the same two titles they’ve been alternating for the past few years.
It’s called Points Unlimited.

And Hilton really wants you to know it’s the new Points Unlimited… so much so that they literally UNDERLINED the word “NEW” on the promo page.
Which is adorable, because there’s absolutely nothing new here. This is the hotel loyalty version of putting a “NEW!” sticker on the same cereal box you’ve been buying since you were a kid.

How the Promotion Works
This one is simple (which, honestly, is the nicest thing we can say about it):
- Promo name: “Points Unlimited”
- Bonus: 2,000 Hilton Honors points per completed stay
- Stay dates: January 15 – April 30, 2026
- Registration: Required before your first eligible stay
- Cap: None (hence the “Unlimited” part)
And yes, the big headline here is that Hilton is back to the “safety net” version of its global promos: 2,000 points per stay.
Not per night. Per stay.
Nothing “New” Here — Just a Familiar Name
If this feels familiar, it should. Hilton has used Points Unlimited as a promo name before.
And compared to what they’ve been doing lately, “Points Unlimited” is at least a better label than the rotating door of promo names that all mean “click this link, and we’ll toss you a small pile of points.”
If you want a refresher on how the last one went, here’s our write-up from fall 2025: Hilton’s “Stay More, Earn More” Promotion for Fall 2025 Is… Not Great
After the Last Promo Faceplant, This Is the Reset Button
The last promo was a flat 1,500 points per stay… which was so underwhelming that Hilton eventually bumped it to 2,500.
Now we’re back to 2,000.
So if you’re keeping score:
- Hilton tried 1,500 (people laughed)
- Hilton bumped it to 2,500 (people stopped laughing, but didn’t exactly cheer)
- Hilton reverted to the classic 2,000 (because it’s easier to recycle the old playbook)
It’s not exciting, but it’s predictable. And that’s basically the vibe of Hilton promos lately.
Short Stays Win (Again)
Just like the 2025 promo, this structure heavily favors people who have multiple short stays.
If you’re doing:
- one-night stays
- airport overnights
- quick weekend trips
…then 2,000 points per stay is at least something you’ll notice.
But if you’re staying five nights in the same hotel? You still get 2,000 points total. Not per night. Not for two nights. Just… one bonus for the whole stay.
What Are 2,000 Hilton Points Worth?
Not a lot.
Using a rough valuation of 0.5 cents per Hilton point, 2,000 points = about $10.
That’s better than 1,500 points (about $7.50), but it’s still not the kind of promo that makes you switch your stays from another chain. It’s more like: “If you were already staying at Hilton, congrats—here’s enough points to feel slightly less annoyed.”
Important Details People Miss
A few key things worth knowing (because these promos always come with fine print):
- You have to register before your first eligible stay (even if the stay was booked earlier).
- The promo is based on completed stays during the window—checkout date matters.
- A “stay” is typically defined as consecutive nights at the same property (so you can’t game this by checking out and checking back in daily).
- These promos usually apply to eligible rates booked directly with Hilton (and historically, Hilton has counted award stays for these global promos, which helps if you’re burning points).
- Bonus points can take a while to post (Hilton often says 6–8 weeks).
If you’re staying with Hilton at all between mid-January and the end of April, you might as well register. It’s one click, and there’s no downside.
Final Thought
I’ll give Hilton one compliment: bringing back Points Unlimited is better than slapping a fresh name on the same recycled promo and hoping nobody notices.
But the underlined NEW is doing a lot of work here… because this isn’t new. It’s the same familiar, modest “2,000 per stay” offer Hilton reaches for when they want a global promotion that’s safe, simple, and unlikely to cause any excitement.
Still—if you have Hilton stays coming up, register and take the points. Just don’t let Hilton convince you this is some bold new era of generosity.
