Hyatt is losing one of its most unique hotels in New Orleans—and for World of Hyatt members, that’s a bigger deal than it might seem at first.
The Eliza Jane, which had been part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, is leaving World of Hyatt on March 24, 2025, and joining Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection. That kind of hotel shuffle happens all the time, but this one stands out because the Eliza Jane wasn’t just another place to earn or burn points. It was one of the more distinctive Hyatt options in the city.
We stayed there in 2022 and came away impressed. It felt like a hotel with real personality, not just a flag on a building in a good location. If you want the full details, you can read my review of the Eliza Jane here.
Why This One Hurts

Even before the move to Marriott, the Eliza Jane had already become a little less useful for some World of Hyatt members. The hotel had moved up to Category 5, meaning it was no longer eligible for Hyatt’s Category 1-4 free-night certificates. So while it remained a compelling place to stay, it had already slipped out of that sweet spot for people trying to maximize those annual awards.
Now it’s leaving Hyatt altogether, and that creates an even bigger gap. When Hyatt loses a boutique-style property in a city, it’s usually not easy to find a direct replacement. More often than not, what’s left are the dependable but less memorable options.
What’s Left For Hyatt In New Orleans
As is often the case with Hyatt, the footprint in New Orleans is pretty limited once you set aside the Mr & Mrs Smith properties. They’re generally not part of the conversation when you’re looking to redeem Hyatt points, thanks to their unique pricing structure.
You still have the usual suspects: there’s a Hyatt Centric near the French Quarter, a Hyatt Regency and Hyatt House near the Superdome, and a Hyatt Place by the Convention Center. Those are all well-located properties, and depending on what kind of trip you’re taking, any of them could do the job just fine.
But none of them are really the kind of hotel you’d go out of your way to remember.
The Two Hyatt Hotels That Matter More Now
That’s why Hyatt’s 2024 addition of two more interesting New Orleans properties feels even more important now. At the time, they looked like a nice expansion of the brand’s options in the city. With the Eliza Jane leaving, they now feel much more essential.
I wrote about those additions when they first appeared in Hyatt’s system in this post, and both deserve a closer look if you still want a more distinctive World of Hyatt stay in New Orleans.
The former Ace Hotel is now The Barnett, a Category 4 JdV by Hyatt property. That alone makes it especially interesting, as it remains eligible for Hyatt’s Category 1-4 free-night certificates. For people who were disappointed when the Eliza Jane moved out of certificate range, this is now the most obvious replacement.
The other property is Maison Métier, the former Maison de la Luz, which is now part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection at Category 6. It’s a smaller and more upscale option, and of the two, it probably comes closest to filling the niche that the Eliza Jane occupied for Hyatt members looking for something with more personality.
Both properties are in a similar part of town, just off Magazine Street, so they’re not only more interesting than Hyatt’s standard New Orleans lineup, but they’re also located in an area where many visitors would actually want to stay.
Final Thought
Losing the Eliza Jane is a reminder of one of the ongoing frustrations of being loyal to Hyatt. The program can be incredibly valuable, but in many cities, the number of truly unique options is still pretty small. So when Hyatt loses one of those properties, it’s noticeable.
If you liked the Eliza Jane or had it on your list for a future trip, The Barnett and Maison Métier are now the two New Orleans Hyatt properties worth a closer look. They’re not identical replacements, but they do give World of Hyatt members at least a couple of options that feel a little more special than the usual chain-hotel lineup.
