Until 2021, Hyatt only offered a single credit card with Chase, their co-brand card partner. The World of Hyatt Visa card was a must for Hyatt loyalists because it provided a boost towards Hyatt status and a free night at a category 1-4 hotel every anniversary year.
Chase and Hyatt expanded the partnership in October 2021 by launching the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.
Unlike other co-brand credit cards, the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card has several differences from the personal version of the World of Hyatt card.
Here are some of the benefits of the World of Hyatt Business card.:
Bonus Categories
- 4 World of Hyatt Bonus points on purchases made at Hyatt hotels and resorts (including at participating restaurants and participating locations that are owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt Corporation or its subsidiaries or affiliates), on FIND experiences purchased directly at hyatt.com/FIND, at participating SLH properties, and on Lindblad Expedition experiences purchased directly through the World of Hyatt Program.
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent in your top three eligible spend categories each quarter through 12/31/24, then your top two categories each quarter.
- Dining
- Airline tickets purchased directly with the airline
- Car rental agencies
- Local transit and commuting
- Gas stations
- Internet, cable and phone services
- Social media and search engine advertising
- Shipping

2 Bonus Points per $1 spent for staying healthy with fitness club and gym memberships.

$100 Hyatt Credit
Cardholders get two $50 credits for spending $50 or more at any Hyatt property in the cardholder anniversary year. Unlike some cards, this is not a bi-yearly benefit where you can use one credit from January to June and the other from July to December.
Qualifying Hyatt purchases are single transactions of $50 or more made at Hyatt hotels and resorts (including at participating restaurants and participating locations that are owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt Corporation or its subsidiaries or affiliates), at participating SLH properties, and on Lindblad Expedition experiences purchased directly through the World of Hyatt program.
So, for example, we could go for dinner at the Four Flamingos at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress and get a $50 statement credit.
Automatic Discoverist Status
The World of Hyatt Business Card provides automatic Discoverist status to the cardholder and up to 5 employees, who do not even have to be authorized cardholders.
Application Process
While I like to think that applying for a new card is a systematic process where I carefully consider the available cards and pick the one that best fits our needs, that’s not always what happens. Occasionally it’s a combination of a new cardholder offer and an upcoming expense that triggers an application.
In this case, several events came together which let me apply for a new card.
- We’re not currently meeting any current minimum spending requirements.
- We’re going to have a large expense in the future
- Neither of us is over 5/24 with Chase
- The World of Hyatt Business card has an increased sign-up bonus
Here’s a current offer with the World of Hyatt Business Card.
Earn 60,000 pooints after you spend $5,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. Earn an additional 15,000 Bonus Points after you spend $12,000 within 6 months of account opening.
I wouldn’t usually want to commit to spending $12,000 on a card within 6 months, but with a large expense on the horizon, it will not be hard to reach this spending requirement. We’re also starting to spend more time at Hyatt’s and Sharon says she wants to go back to the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
75,000 Hyatt points will get us a good part of the way to that trip. In addition, this means she’ll also get Hyatt status when I book a room under her name. This will allow us to drink the bottles of water in the room without paying for them, unlike what we had to do in New York.
So one evening, I applied for a World of Hyatt Business card for Sharon. Besides writing for the website, she has another business so she can apply for her own business credit cards. She had a Chase business credit card long before I did, so there’s no need to worry about proving to Chase that she runs a real business.
However, she already has 2 Chase business credit cards and several personal cards so I was hesitant to have her apply for another one. Fortunately, she was instantly approved with a $5,000 credit line.
I’m going to enjoy having an additional 75,000 World of Hyatt points once we meet the spending requirement.
