WestJet been running its “Christmas Miracle” campaign since 2012. Through company wide initiatives, every year they do something different to spread some holiday cheer, which is videotaped and shared with the world. The videos are sweet, heartwarming, uplifting, and the perfect examples of what people can do during the holiday season to make others’ lives better.
2020, of course, has been an awful year. Airlines have been hit hard and WestJet’s been no exception. However the airline and its employees still managed to give what they could, this time to those who really needed it. From their website:
WestJet Christmas Miracle: the season to give
This year, Christmas is different but the spirit of giving remains. WestJet has donated 1.3+ million inventory items nationally since the onset of the pandemic. For 2020, let’s share the true meaning of the holiday season by creating traditions with experiences focused on care, something as WestJetters we practice daily. Our miracle is simple, we used the items we had on hand –our inventory, our fleet, our WestJetters, and shared them with those who need them the most. We gave blankets, personal protective equipment, and food to shelters, hot meals to frontline workers, and gifts to seniors and children to share holiday spirit.
Here’s their 2020 video:
Like I said, WestJet has been performing these “Christmas Miracles” since 2012. To see what they’ve done in the past, as well as what other airlines (and airports!) have done in the years before COVID, here’s a post with a bunch of them.
