Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- The first article this week is a follow up to the adorable tale of the 10-year old aspiring airline CEO who wrote the head of Qantas for advice. While the original reply letter was great on its own, Point Me To The Plane writes about the next chapter where the two CEO’s get together for a meeting and signed a memorandum of understanding between Qantas and the upstart airline.
Remember the 10-year-old CEO who started his own airline?
We said we’d host him and his fellow executives at Qantas for a historic aviation summit.

- Lucky (Ben) from One Mile at a Time shares one the simplest travel hacks I’ve seen showing how to get free bottled water when traveling.
- Ed from Pizza in Motion got access to a DVC points chart for the new Walt Disney World Riviera resort. Using this chart he tries to figure out how much a room will cost using the price to rent DVC points while comparing that with rooms already bookable on the Disney website.
- Holly from Frugal Travel Guy gives several reasons why she doesn’t bother exchanging currency before going on a trip. I totally agree except for when we traveled to Cuba and needed to get Euros so we could exchange them into Cuban currency. Oh, they’ll exchange U.S. Dollars but you pay a 10% penalty for the privilege,
- Greg from Frequent Miler visited the St. Regis in New York and loved his stay, but he’s not planning on going back. The reason isn’t what you’d normally think. We’ve visited the Old King Cole bar at the St. Regis and while we loved looking around the hotel, it just isn’t our style.
- Mark from Miles to Memories writes about how he’s considering downgrading the American Express Platinum card to the Green card. Sharon’s going to keep her Green AMEX card until the end of time so I sure hope the rumors of increased benefits materialize sometime soon.
- Stefan from Rapid Travel Chai lists the cards he’s currently holding, what he’s looking to get rid of and cards he wants to get. Just looking at the list of cards he’s considering signing up for will show you there’s way more opportunity signing up for cards than just sticking with AMEX, Citi and Chase.
- Finally, there is a post on Travel with Grant about the World of Hyatt credit card. While I just wrote my review of the card, Grant considers something about the card that I was pondering as well. Once spending the $6,000 to finish the sign-up bonus, is it worth spending an additional $9,000 on the card to get an additional free night certificate. We both came to the same conclusion but you might feel differently as Your Mileage May Vary.
