Happy Wednesday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Gary from View From The Wing wrote about how Marriott’s move to bulk toiletries is already a disaster. This was inadvertently followed up by Richard Kerr’s tweet of what the inside of one of those bulk soap-refillable dispensers looks like. Ew. Kind of makes you to not want to figure out a way to still steal the toiletries, huh?
- Tiffany from One Mile At A Time wrote about six of the worst hotels that Ben and her have ever stayed at. I don’t think they’re as bad as any of the worst hotels in the world according to Trip Advisor (really – click on the link. They’re BAD!) but I read her article and looked at her photos and yeah, they were pretty bad. Just not “as” bad. 😉
- A few bloggers posted about TUI’s announcement about their new relationship with Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB). MCO is already in the midst of a lawsuit regarding MLB using “Orlando” in their name – they say it’s misleading because Melbourne is actually about 75-90 minutes from the Orlando/theme park area. I suppose they’re going to say this will make even more passengers confused.
- Deals We Like wrote about United’s new partnership with Miles4Migrants, a charity where the goal is to help reunite families who have been separated by war, persecution and disaster. A link was included, which is good because airlines certainly don’t make it easy when you want to donate miles to charity (this post explains how to do it for the major airlines and hotel chains)
- According to the Washington Post, the “Church of Bones” in the Czech Republic will soon enforce stricter rules regarding taking photographs, which will include not taking selfies. Meanwhile, this country is encouraging selfies (OK granted, not at sensitive locations) by listing the best places to do them.
- And speaking of photography, while these countries are outlawing selfies because it’s too dangerous, this person almost died while trying to get a good shot of the Grand Canyon. How stupid can people be?!?!?!
- DDG at Miles to Memories reports that United plans to offer a “fly now, pay later” option at checkout. This would allow passengers to pay off bookings over time. I suppose that will be good for people to not have to pay as much (read: all of it) upfront, but I guess what needs to be seen are the fees involved, especially in comparison to paying something like that off via credit card.
