Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- The measles is out there and traveling through airports is one of the main places you can be exposed. Brian from The Gate gives a list of ways to reduce your chance of being infected. Personally, I think it’s a great idea to protect yourself from all the possible diseases you’ll be exposed to when traveling. Here’s how to find out which vaccines you’ll need.
- We’ve had several minibar stories over the years. There was the case of the mysterious minibar charge. The hotel room with the vegan friendly minibar. But some of these minibars really take the cake!
- The end of the year is here. While that might mean your travel credits are resetting, Nick from Frequent Miler gives a thorough end of year checklist.
- There are little things you learn when traveling. Who knew that a Kenny G song was the signal in China that it’s time to leave. In the U.S., I always know the time to leave is when Semisonic’s “Closing Time” plays on the music station.
Anyway, here are some other things that are done differently in other countries than the U.S. – last thing you want to do is insult anyone. - We’ve all seen small hotel rooms but it’s not often that you’ll see a hotel so cramped for space that they’ll make a room from anywhere available. Gary from View From the Wing shows how the Hyatt Regency San Francisco has turned their hallway into a 185 square foot room and is charging a pretty penny to stay there as well. To be fair, it is San Francisco.
- It’s time for New Year’s Resolutions. For many people, that’s a pledge to be healthier. Nomadic Matt shares some tips on how to stay fit when traveling. And no, eating a burger and fries every night at the hotel restaurant is not one of the hints.
- Ben writes on One Mile at a Time about one of the most interesting TransAtlantic flights out there. It’s not one you can redeem frequent flyer miles for and it’s usually booked solid. Interested? Read his article and then you’ll need to book your trip ASAP!
- I’ve been following Seth from Wandering Aramean’s posts about his trip to India. While the trip has had its share of hiccups along the way, nothing’s as bad as getting a case of food poisoning right before a long travel day. I suffered through two days of agony with a similar problem during our trip to Cuba so I can emphasize with the struggle to keep things together when on the road.
