The World’s First Entirely Vegan Hotel Suite Is Now Taking Reservations – And You Can Use Points!

by SharonKurheg

You can find niche hotels just about anywhere. The Stadhaus Hotel is run by people with physical, mental or intellectual challenges. Cabin is a “hotel on wheels” of sorts, wherein you can fall asleep in one city and wake up in another. Gayhotels.com helps members of the LGBTQ+ community find hotels that are gay or “accredited” gay friendly places to stay. So it’s really no surprise that vegan hotels, usually identified as simply without meat or fish on their restaurants’ menus, have popped up all around the world in recent years.

But for travelers who are looking for a place to stay that uses vegan friendly materials,  there’s now an entire vegan suite available that not only has the thumbs up from The Vegan Society, but is even bookable by points because it’s owned by an international hotel company!

Hilton London Bankside has recently refurbished one of its rooms with ethically conscious travelers in mind. In fact, they consulted with The Vegan Society during the refurbishment, to ensure that all material choices would be appropriate. So everything in the luxurious suite – carpets, pillows, furniture, pad and pencil in the desk, you name it – are composed of vegan-friendly materials.

The vegan experience actually begins when you check in – those staying in the vegan suite are led to a specially designed plant-based check-in desk that has upholstered chairs made of Pinatex, a leather-like material made from pineapples.

Once in the suite, guests have several options of anti-bacterial, non-allergenic pillow made from environmentally sourced materials, ranging from buckwheat (made with 100% organic buckwheat hulls), to kapok (created from natural kapok) to millet (stuffed with organic millet husks). The suite’s seating and cushions, along with the bed’s hand-embroidered headboard, are made of Pinatex. The floors are made of 100% renewable and sustainable Moso Bamboo, while the carpets are made of sourced organic cotton.

The bathroom toiletry products as well as the food and drink in the mini bar are all vegan friendly, as is everything on the room service menu.

“Here at Hilton London Bankside, we’re always looking at ways to innovate and bring new experiences to our guests. Our OXBO restaurant offering is already expansive, catering to many different dietary requirements so we thought, why not apply the same concept to our rooms,” said James Clark, General Manager of Hilton London Bankside. “Veganism is not just a dining trend, it has become a lifestyle choice for many and in turn, we want to be the first hotel to be able to offer those who follow the plant-based lifestyle, the chance to fully immerse themselves within it from the moment they walk into the hotel.”

A member of The Vegan Society was invited to test out the new suite – click here to read about his experience.

Hilton London Bankside’s vegan suite is available for rental with cash or Hilton Honors points.
