Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- On Live and Let’s Fly, Matthew wrote about how Ryanair was forced by the UK to pull its recent ads because it’s misleading to consumers. Now, we have many reasons not to fly with Ryanair, but I usually think they’re pretty honest, at least when it comes to how cheap they are.
- This post on Rene’s Points examines some mysteries about AMEX’s new trip delay coverage. If you’re still on the fence about using your AMEX to pay for travel expenses, here are some cards that provide coverage when you’re trip is delayed.
- Gary wrote on View From the Wing how Gander Airport in Canada is turning its 1960s era international departures lounge into a tourist attraction. I have to admit that part of me wants to visit Gander and the rest of Newfoundland after seeing Come From Away and this would just be one more stop on our trip.
- Buying a new car is always tricky, but Ben from No Mas Coach managed to earn miles by paying for his car with gift cards. I’ve written about why points and miles people buy so many gift cards, but even I didn’t think about buying a car with them in mind.
- Ryan, from Miles to Memories, reflected on the one thing he misses out the most since starting to travel using points and miles. While I don’t think it would be a problem for us since while we’re not the type to stay at a St. Regis, we’re not changing to the style of travel Ryan’s reminiscing about.
- Lucky writes on One Mile at a Time about how the Marriott at Frankfurt Airport is splitting into two different hotels. While I’ve stayed at a hotel that’s had an identity problem, I’ve never heard of one that broken into two halves before
- On Travel Update, Family Flys Free wrote about his first trip on a fifth freedom route. They’re a great way to try out airlines you usually don’t get to fly. We loved our flight on Singapore Airlines from New York to Frankfurt.
- On Loyalty Lobby, they replied to a reader question if you can get a refund on a non-refundable reservation if you can’t get to your location due to bad weather? While I never like to make pre-paid hotel bookings, here’s a list of things you can do if your flights are delayed by bad weather.
