A couple of years ago, we reported about a toddler who snuck away from his mom and wound up on the “backstage” conveyor belt system of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Apparently, it’s not just toddlers who need to be watched like a hawk.
Video footage has surfaced of a man on the backstage luggage conveyor belt of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport.
The video, which appears to be from CCTV footage and is said to be from late July, starts with the man climbing onto the conveyor belt system, holding his carry-on bag. He almost looks like he’s roller skating at first, trying to keep his balance on the moving belt.
He tries to stand up again, but can’t. He eventually realizes he won’t be able to stand upright, so he just sits and “body surfs” the conveyor belt. In the process, of course, he loses his shoe and almost loses his bag.

There isn’t much more information about exactly what happened. Some news sources are saying he was drunk. Others are saying he was lost. According to the Daily Star, the man, “was attempting to get to the runway where his flight was waiting via the luggage carousel, but got lost on the way.”
Whatever the case, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior said, “The shift chief of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation at Sheremetyevo International Airport received a message that an unidentified man was on the luggage belt on the third floor of Terminal D.”
The man eventually got stuck in a baggage scanning device and was promptly removed by airport personnel and arrested with a charge of violating airport security rules.
So I dunno. It’s certainly…interesting?
