Ritz-Carlton Plans To Open Second NYC Hotel In Mid-2022

by SharonKurheg

The Ritz-Carlton brand has had a history in New York City for over 100 years:

  • The original Ritz-Carlton was located on 46th Street and Madison Avenue. It opened in 1911 and was demolished in 1951.
  • The Navarro, at 112 (now 110) Central Park South was renamed the Ritz-Carlton New York in 1982, but the hotel was sold to Sheraton in 1997.
  • The 253-room Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, located at 50 Central Park South, has been in business for close to 20 years; it was formerly the Hotel St. Moritz.

However, the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park will soon not be the only Ritz-Carlton in the Big Apple. It’s soon to have a sister hotel, the Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad. Set to open in the second quarter of 2022, the hotel will bring 219 guest rooms, 30 (800 to 2100 sq ft) suites, and 16 residences to Broadway at W. 28th St., in the lively neighborhood north of Madison Square Park, locally known as NoMad.

The 45-story Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad will offer iconic New York views of downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. It will feature 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including two ballrooms. The 3,400 square foot NoMad Ballroom will be able to accommodate 210 people for banquets, while the smaller Madison Ballroom will be available for smaller parties up upwards of 100. Other spaces will include the Madison boardroom and the 2,800-square-foot Madison Terrace.

Four-Michelin-starred chef José Andrés (who has twice been on TIME’s “100 Most Influential People” list and was awarded the 2015 National Humanities Medal by President Obama), will be opening two restaurants at the property. One will be a new outpost of his Washington, D.C., Mediterranean restaurant Zaytinya, and the other will be The Bazaar, which has versions in both Las Vegas and Miami.

The property will also have a 6,800-square-foot spa that will offer eight treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, and private lounges, plus a 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad is scheduled to open in early 2022 and is accepting reservations from May 2022.

You forgot the Ritz Carlton downtown (10 West Street) which is now Wagner At The Battery, and where R-C still manages the residences part of the tower.
