Thailand, Bali, Morocco, Philippines Reopening For Tourism In February

by SharonKurheg

Thailand – February 1st

Effective February 1st, Thailand is once again accepting applications for visitors. The country had previously suspended its “Test and Go Program” due to the omicron surge.

As per the country’s updated Tourism Authority of Thailand instructions, fully vaccinated visitors from the U.S. are allowed to visit Thailand without quarantine as long as they’re tested for COVID on the first and fifth days of their trip and the results are negative. On those two days, travelers are required to stay in a government-approved hotel. They must pay in advance in advance for the 2 PCR tests, as well as those 2 nights in the hotel(s). They also must purchase a coronavirus-specific travel insurance policy covering at least $50,000.

Bali – February 4th

Officials in Indonesia have announced Bali will reopen to all foreign visitors this Friday, February 4th.

Bali had previously been open to 19 countries since mid-October. But now it will be open to tourists from all countries, including the U.S.

Vaccinated visitors will need to quarantine upon arrival. However, the isolation period has decreased from seven days to five.

Morocco – February 7th

Morocco has announced it will reopen its land and air borders, and again allow visitors, effective February 7. The African nation, one of the most popular for tourism, has had an international travel ban since late November 2021 due to the Omicron variant breakout.

On January 28 the Moroccan government said in a statement published in local media outlet Africa Business: “This decision comes in accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and following the recommendations of the scientific and technical commission and taking into consideration the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom”

As per Royal Air Maroc, the country’s flag carrier, the easing of restrictions will apply to travelers from 67 nations that are exempt from Morocco’s visa requirements. These include the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all EU member states.

The government’s statement continued, “a technical committee is currently examining the measures to be adopted at border crossings and the conditions required for travelers, which will be announced later.”

Soooooo….they’re going to reopen in less than a week now, but they’re still not sharing what people have to do to get in. Vaxxed vs. unvaxxed? Booster requirement? Will people have to quarantine? Show recent testing? Who knows? LOLOL!

I guess if you were planning on going to Morocco as soon as it opened, you may want to wait until they clarify things. Hopefully soon.

The Philippines- February 10th

Meanwhile, The Philippines have also announced they’re lifting their ban on entry of foreign tourists and businesspeople, effective February 10th.

Berna Romulo-Puyat, the Tourism Secretary of The Philippines, said they will reopen their doors to travelers from more than 150 countries with visa-free privileges.

Foreign travelers will not be required to quarantine in government-designated centers upon arrival as long as they’ve been fully vaccinated and tested negative prior to arrival.

Thailand has changed their mind about reopening more than most people change their socks.
