Did you know that Marriott Bonvoy has an All-Inclusive hotel portfolio? Neither did I. It’s no surprise as other hotel chains, most notably Hyatt, have been scooping up all-inclusive locations around the world. Not to be left behind, Marriott has been making deals in Mexico and the Caribbean and now has almost 30 resorts in the All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy® collection.
Marriott’s approach has been to incorporate properties into one of the existing brands. When the Royalton all-inclusive resorts joined Marriott Bonvoy they were placed in the Autograph Collection. However, that’s not always the case. Marriott acquired the Elegant Hotel Group’s Barbados properties in 2019 but the hotels are still brandless.
Following the acquisition, Marriott intends to carry out renovations to the hotels in the Elegant portfolio. Upon completion of the planned property renovations, Marriott intends to operate all the Elegant hotels as all-inclusive resorts under one or more of Marriott’s collection brands
In a change from their formula, Marriott is converting an existing property into an all-inclusive resort.
The Marriott Cancun has 450 rooms and is located in the hotel zone. The resort closed in March of 2023 and is planned to reopen in early 2024 as the Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort.
This would be the first Marriott-flagged all-inclusive resort in the world. Looking at the hotel website, they appear to be taking reservations starting on February 15, 2024.
The Marriott Cancun received good reviews, including a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice award in 2023. The press info on the renovation is vague, but they’ll make some changes before the hotel reopens.
Expanding upon the all-inclusive promise, Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort will launch all new redesigned rooms, suites, lobby, meeting spaces, and public areas, including new innovative restaurant concepts, expansive pools, and even a lazy river and waterpark. Keeping with Marriott Hotels’ commitment to providing upscale and enriching experiences, the premium all-inclusive property will deliver future guests with elevated food and beverage choices, a state-of-the-art fitness center, authentic daily and nightly entertainment, and dedicated guest relations representatives offering the heartfelt service that distinguishes the brand and a strong variety of refined facilities under the all-inclusive umbrella.
Rates show around $500 or 60,000-80,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night for double occupancy.
