How to Renew Your Hertz President’s Circle Status with Capital One Venture X Card

by joeheg

One of the perks of the Capital One Venture X card is getting President’s Circle status with Hertz. After applying for the Venture X card, cardholders must enroll to get the status upgrade, which takes 1-3 days. It’s a simple process, and I’ve taken advantage of having top-tier status with Hertz over the last 2 years.

However, I don’t rent cars often enough to maintain my status. Therefore, Hertz notified me that I was being demoted.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the benefits of being one of our top-tier members. To maintain tier status, you needed to meet yearly qualifications – 15 rentals or a $‍3,0‍00‍ spend for Hertz President’s Circle® and 10 rentals or a $‍2,0‍00‍ spend for Hertz Five Star®.

Although you didn’t meet these qualifications, you’ll continue enjoying benefits as a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® member. Your new tier status will be reflected within your member account by ‍Jan‍uary‍ ‍31‍, ‍2024.

How to get Hertz President’s Circle status from Capital One

This isn’t a big deal. All I need to do is reapply for President’s Circle by using the link on the Capital One website.  Then, I’ll again be eligible for the following benefits:a yellow and black card with black text

Will this benefit continue?

Until now, the procedure has been that you reapply through Capital One when your Hertz status expires at the end of a year. However, several articles have noted that the Hertz status benefit with Capital One Venture cards will expire at the end of 2024. There’s been some back and forth, with statements from Capital One saying that the benefit is due to end, but they are evaluating options, including extending the benefit.

For now, we need to take them at their word that this might not be something to continue into 2025, but a year is a long time for both sides to decide if they want to continue the partnership.

Final Thought

I’ll apply for an upgrade as soon as my status is downgraded. I could try to do this right away, but I’m not sure if it would stick, so there’s no harm in waiting since I don’t have any current Hertz reservations.
