I have frequently written about the Citi Prestige on our website. Unfortunately, most of my posts have been about my regrets for not canceling the card. This is because the card lost most of its valuable benefits over time. Recently, the 4th-night free benefit can only be redeemed when booking through the Citi Travel Portal.
Surprisingly, the Citi Prestige has backed into having a benefit that most other luxury cards have removed. While cards, like the Sapphire Reserve, have removed the Priority Pass restaurant benefit, it still remains intact for memberships from the Citi Prestige.
Here’s the language from the Citi Prestige website:
Relax and unwind with Priority Pass™ Select lounges around the world. You and your authorized users will have access to hundreds of VIP lounges through Priority Pass™ Select- no need to enroll. Immediate family and up to two guests traveling with you can also access the lounge.
For this reason, I’ve always liked Citi Prestige’s Priority Pass benefit, and it’s the card we bring with us when we travel. It’s better than the guesting rules for other cards that offer Priority Pass Select memberships.
According to CNN Underscored, there are only a few cards remaining that include the Priority Pass Restaurant benefit:
- Bank of America® Premium Rewards® Elite Credit Card.
- Capital One Venture X Business.
- U.S. Bank Altitude® Reserve Visa Infinite® Card (8 free visits per calendar year).
- U.S. Bank Business Altitude™ Connect World Elite Mastercard® (4 free visits per calendar year).
- U.S. Bank Altitude® Connect Visa Signature® Card (4 free visits per calendar year).
- UBS Visa Infinite Card.
- Citi Prestige® Card (not available to new applicants).
The question is, how valuable is this benefit to you? We have only used it twice in the past year: once for Chef Geoff’s at Dulles, which was an underwhelming meal, and on my recent visit to the Grain Store at LGW.
Paying for three meals with this benefit saved me $80. However, I am unsure if I would have dined at an airport restaurant if I didn’t have a Priority Pass Select card with a restaurant credit.
However, this does make the Citi Prestige have a niche place in my wallet. In a few months, none of my other cards will have access to Priority Pass restaurant locations. But will that make it worth the $495 annual fee just to save on a few visits to airport restaurants?

I remember the good old days, when the city prestige got me into admirals clubs and got me fourth night free on hotels. That was a great card!
