You Can Now Follow YMMV on Bluesky and Threads

It sometimes feels like if you blink, the internet changes.

Take social media, for example. We’ve been on Facebook for years—anything we write on this blog is posted as a link on Facebook.

But over the years, the Facebook overlords decided they didn’t want people to leave FB to read a post on some moderately successful travel blog (not just us; they didn’t want people to go to any outside link). So, they started showing our FB posts to less and less of our followers. How much less? Let’s put it this way – we’ve got roughly 1.2K followers on Facebook; their algorithm shows each of our posts to between 15 and 50 people. So that’s what? 2% of our followers? 3%? We know that BoardingArea posts our stuff on FB too, and happily, they get many more eyes than we do.

For a long time, we also had a healthy following on Twitter. But then the company was sold, and the X overlords made outside links more difficult to see, along with continually “raising the rent,” so to speak, to use third-party programs that auto-post things from our blog to social media. So, the last time X posted one of our articles was this past summer.

We’ve played around with Instagram and Pinterest, but neither really works well for us. Other forums, like TikTok, really aren’t our style.

But now Threads and, especially, Bluesky are starting to grow, so we’ve begun our presence there, as well:
