There’s not much time left. The current elevated offers on all three personal Delta SkyMiles® American Express cards — Gold, Platinum, and Reserve — are set to end on July 16. And if you’re thinking of waiting until the last minute to apply, don’t. Amex is known for pulling these offers early. We’ve seen some links stop working before noon Eastern on the day they’re scheduled to end.
So if you’ve been eyeing one of these Delta cards, now’s the time to make your move.
Heads up: We may receive a referral bonus if you apply and are approved using the links below. Thanks for supporting the site!
Gold Delta SkyMiles® American Express Card
- 80,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $3,000 in the first 6 months
- $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $150
- 2x SkyMiles at restaurants, supermarkets, and on Delta purchases
- First checked bag free on Delta flights and Main Cabin 1 priority boarding
This is the go-to card for occasional Delta flyers. You still get solid perks like a free checked bag and priority boarding, without paying a big annual fee.
Platinum Delta SkyMiles® American Express Card
- 90,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $4,000 in the first 6 months
- $350 annual fee
- 3x SkyMiles on Delta purchases and hotels, 2x at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets
- For every $20 you spend on the Delta SkyMiles Platinum Card, you’ll earn $1 MQD
- Annual Main Cabin companion certificate on eligible domestic roundtrips within the U.S. and to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America
- First checked bag free on Delta flights and Main Cabin 1 priority boarding
This card is best for people who fly Delta a few times a year and want a faster path to elite status, plus the bonus miles. The companion certificate can easily offset the annual fee if you use it wisely.
Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
- 100,000 bonus SkyMiles after spending $6,000 in the first 6 months
- $650 annual fee
- 3x SkyMiles on Delta purchases
- Earn $1 Medallion Qualification Dollar for each $10 in purchases
- Complimentary Delta Sky Club access (with visit limits) and 4 guest passes per year
- Annual companion certificate valid in First Class, Comfort+, or Main Cabin within the U.S. and to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America
For frequent Delta flyers, this is the card that gets you the most MQDs and premium travel perks — including lounge access and the upgraded companion certificate.
Important Rules to Know
Before you apply, make sure you understand Amex’s strict rules around sign-up bonuses:
- One welcome bonus per card per lifetime. This means you generally can’t get the bonus again if you’ve ever had that specific card before. However, there’s a limit to what AMEX considers a lifetime.
- Delta “Little Brother” Rule: You may not be eligible for a welcome offer if you currently have — or previously had — a better version of the Delta Gold, Platinum, or Reserve card. Which means you may not be eligible for the Gold card bonus if you’ve already received one for the Platinum or Reserve version.
- RAT Warning: Amex includes language in its terms that gives them broad discretion to deny or revoke welcome bonuses. According to their terms: “If we determine that you have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this offer in any way or that you intend to do so, including if you return purchases you made to meet the Threshold Amount, we may not credit, we may freeze, or we may take away bonus miles from your account. We may also cancel any accounts you have with us.”
- Pop-Up Jail: Some applicants may see an Amex pop-up message stating they’re not eligible for the welcome bonus. If you get this pop-up, you can choose to withdraw your application. It’s often based on past card history or behavior that Amex deems risky.
The AMEX application page doesn’t fully explain all the eligibility rules — including the one about not being eligible if you’ve had any Delta AMEX in the past.
Final Thought
These are some of the best SkyMiles bonuses we’ve seen on Delta’s personal Amex cards in a while — but they won’t last. The offers are officially scheduled to end on July 16, but they could disappear at any time that day. If you’re thinking about applying, don’t wait until the last minute.
