There are plenty of miserable people in the world. You know the kind I mean. The ones who seem perpetually annoyed about something. The person ahead of them is walking too slowly. The line is taking too long. Someone’s laughing too loudly. Their coffee isn’t hot enough. And heaven forbid a stranger should try to make small talk with them.
Basically, some people seem to go through life looking for reasons to be annoyed.
But then there are people who go in the complete opposite direction. They look for opportunities to make something more fun, make somebody laugh, or just add a little unexpected happiness to someone’s day.
I recently read about one of those people, and the little stunt she pulled at an airport made me grin from ear to ear.
A woman named Megan made a TikTok video a few months ago showing how she surprised her best friend, Morgan, at the airport. Y’all, it was one of the most creative and FUN airport welcomes I’ve ever seen, and I am ALL FOR IT.
According to the text overlay on her video, Megan decided that simply meeting Morgan at the airport wasn’t enough.
Nope.
She recruited a whole bunch of total strangers at the airport to welcome Morgan home.
And when I say “recruited,” I mean Megan literally stopped people who were minding their own business and asked if they’d be willing to hang around for a few minutes and enthusiastically welcome home a woman they’d never met.
And THEY DID. 😂
Megan uses the pseudonym Megan Million on social media and the handle @meganmillion100 on TikTok. She shared a video of herself approaching people as they came down the escalator and asking if they’d help welcome Morgan home.
Apparently Megan has the sort of energy that makes it difficult to tell her no, because before long, she’d assembled a surprisingly large welcoming committee. It included members of a sports team, middle-aged travelers and even the captains of Morgan’s plane.
“We have this whole group of people to welcome home, they are all welcoming home my friend Morgan,” Megan exclaimed in the video.
“She should be here in one minute,” she told the crowd, explaining to one stranger that Morgan is “blonde and tall” as a way of identifying her.
“I’m going to just start cheering when y’all start cheering,” a member of the sports team told her.
Eventually, Morgan appeared at the top of the escalator.
“Everybody she’s right there,” Megan yelled. “She’s here!”
And with that, this entire collection of people who did not know Morgan from Adam started cheering for her.
Morgan, understandably, looked completely stunned.
Because seriously, imagine getting off a plane, heading toward baggage claim or wherever you’re going, and suddenly dozens of complete strangers, including the people who just flew your plane, mind you!, are acting like you’ve returned home after winning an Olympic gold medal. 😂
And because the whole thing apparently wasn’t ridiculous enough already, Megan added Charlie Puth’s rendition of the National Anthem from Super Bowl LX to the video.
“GUYS I have no idea how I pulled this off,” Megan wrote in the video’s caption.
Neither do we, Megan. Neither do we.
The video apparently struck a nerve, too. It drew more than 28 million views in its first week alone.
“Start a cult”
TikTok viewers were VERY impressed with Megan’s ability to convince a bunch of complete strangers to go along with her plan.
“You can start a cult if you wanted to,” one commenter mused.
Another wrote, “You’re literally the best example of using free will to its best potential.”
Someone else bestowed upon Megan what may be the greatest title an outgoing person could ever receive:
“Extrovert final boss.”
LOLOL!
Another commenter pretty much summed up the entire video:
“The confusion and excitement from the group of strangers INCLUDING PILOTS, Morgan’s horrified face, Charlie Puth National Anthem in the background, this was pure cinema.”
But one commenter pointed out something else that I think is really the reason the whole thing is so much fun:
“two things make this so special: strangers paused their busy lives to welcome someone they didn’t even know!!! And it took real courage for Megan Million to ask…
“A beautiful reminder that people are kinder than we think! This is life!”
And then, because apparently this story needed ONE MORE THING, Charlie Puth himself showed up in the comments.
His contribution?
“Welcome home Morgan!”
Because of course he did. 😂

Sometimes People Are Pretty Cool
Look, I know this wasn’t some huge, life-changing act of kindness. Nobody saved a life. Nobody donated a kidney. A bunch of strangers just stood around an airport for a few extra minutes and cheered for somebody they’d never met.
But maybe that’s why I like it so much.
Airports are usually places where everybody is focused on themselves—getting through security, finding their gate, grabbing their bag, getting the hell out of there.
And yet Megan asked a bunch of complete strangers to stop what they were doing and be silly with her for a few minutes.
And they did.
Even the pilots.
Maybe people aren’t always so miserable after all. 😉
