Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Ed from Pizza in Motion is at it again. He’s turned his family’s love for Walt Disney World into a way to raise money for great causes. He’s attempted these charity ride sprints before but this is the first time he’s taking the family along. Smartly, they’re sticking to one park and attempting to ride every Magic Kingdom attraction in a day. To read about their quest, check out his article and hopefully make a donation to the cause.
- Seth on Paxex.aero writes about JetBlue’s plans for the A-220 plane that will be joining their fleet in 2020. The 140 seat plane will originally be based out of Boston, expanding JetBlue’s presence in the market.
- Miles to Memories shared a post about a 10% discount on Whole Foods gift cards purchased from the website Gyft. If you make the purchase with an Ink Cash card, charges may earn 5X Ultimate Rewards. These deals often sell out before the end date so I’d jump on this one now if you’re a Whole Foods shopper.
- Ben (Lucky) from One Mile at a Time wrote about how his dad made an unforgivable points mistake. Helping your parents with miles and points is incredibly rewarding but can be frustrating when they go and do things on their own. I had similar feelings when my dad signed up for the Lowe’s in store card to save 10% off a new washer/dryer. Bye, bye 5/24 slot.
- Matthew on Live and Let’s Fly wrote about how Virgin Atlantic is going to be retiring their 747 planes in 2021 and replacing them with A350-1000s. We’ve flown the 747 from Orlando to Gatwick with Virgin and it’s the only time we’ve managed to sit in the nose of a plane when we flew in Upper Class. I’m sad to see the Virgin Atlantic 747 go away so we might have to make one more flight before it goes away for good.
- Gary from View from the Wing wrote about a change at United which allows flight attendants to show personality during the in-flight announcements. While these changes were supposed to start on April 1, I haven’t seen any videos on YouTube showing United employees taking advantage of their newly found freedom. On a side note, I wish companies would stop making changes on that date, it’s hard to know if they’re for real or not.
- Doctor of Credit shared more data points about the American Express RAT (Rewards Abuse Team) taking back points from accounts. This time it appears they are cracking down on people who cancel or downgrade a card less than a year after getting it. Because of my fear of the RAT team, I’ve only signed up for one AMEX bonus since the RAT team became more aggressive and I’ll be sure to keep the card open for at least one year before canceling or downgrading it.
