It’s been said that if you ever get to meet your idol, you should consider yourself very lucky. I was lucky enough to meet all 4 of my idols (I was a HUGE fan of The Monkees for YEARS) before I was 30.
For me, meeting the Monkees, as well as other celebrities over the years, was super exciting. But it also taught me a valuable lesson at an early age – regardless if they’re performers, sports stars, politicians, owners of successful companies, you name it, underneath that fame and fortune, famous people are just the same as you and me. Some are lovely, some are just OK, and some are self-centered jerks. Some make it their business to avoid mere mortals like us, and others will sit in economy, in the back of the plane, by the toilets.
Case in point, Kanye West.
Kanye, of course, is one rich dude. He’s a successful rapper and fashion designer and is worth somewhere between $1.2 and $6.6 billion, depending on what publication you read and how they figured out his assets. I mean, the guy owns a plane. And not just any plane, but a totally tricked out, customized double decker Boeing 747! Here’s what it looks like:
So why was he seen walking around Los Angeles International Airport the other week?
And then boarding a plane there?
it’s not everyday you’re boarding a flight to start your first headline tour in 3 years & have a great conversation with a legend. shout out the goat @kanyewest & the universe for these moments. ∞ pic.twitter.com/8evlJHhxhK

…where he apparently had a seat in the back, by the toilets? (Yo, Kanye – put your mask on!)

No idea.
But oh yes he did!
And less than a week later, he was spotted at JFK, where he apparently had no bodyguards or security and had to go through TSA…just like the rest of us.

This isn’t the first time Kanye has taken economy, by the way…he was videotaped in a “regular” seat on a “regular” plane in the summer of 2015…

And a couple of months before that, someone got a pic of both him and Kim Kardashian, sleeping in their seats, reportedly in economy class on the way to Armenia.

Kim later told E! Online News, “That’s the 1st class section of Air France to Armenia.” But really, have you ever looked at the first class seats of Air France? Sorry Kim darling, but they don’t look like that.
Kanye isn’t the only celebrity who has taken coach/economy/what have you. In fact some of those A (and B. And…C) list people have sat in the cheap seats and have been treated by the airlines as badly as they treat you and me.
Because again, underneath that fame and fortune, they really are just like you and me. 😉

This is Boardingarea – we expect more well informed aviation detail context. If they were ticketed in 1st class they’d get a real first class seat US-CDG and they’d be on a plane with no first class CDG-Armenia, only the economy seats sold as business.
You’re implying she is flying economy all the way from the US without adding context.
Thanks for the input, Greg. If the main topic of the post was about the flight they took 6 years ago, I definitely would have gone into more detail.
