U.S. retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete turned reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner was allegedly denied service at the famed Beverly Hills Hotel the other day.
On December 13, Jenner posted on Instagram the following (adult language edited):
@bevhillshotel f**k your horrible service for not letting me have lunch with this tiny rip in my jeans. Shame on you. Disgusting. I have been a patron for decades. No longer. @dorchestercollection
The Beverly Hills Hotel is part of the Dorchester Collection, the luxury hotel operator. They also own the 5-star Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, The Dorchester, 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park (all in London), Plaza Athénée and Hotel Meurice (both in Paris), Principe di Savoia in Milan, and Hotel Eden (Rome).
The Dorchester also runs several restaurants at their hotels, most notably:
- Alain Ducasse and China Tang at The Dorchester
- Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée
- Restaurant le Meurice Alain Ducasse
- La Terrazza at Hotel Eden
- Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air
- Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel
- Restaurant Coworth Park at Coworth Park
- CUT at 45 Park Lane
- Acanto at Hotel Principe di Savoia
As per TMZ, Ms. Jenner’s complaint apparently happened at the Polo Lounge, which describes itself as, “The most interesting room in Beverly Hills, still buzzing with hot names and hotter stories. Known as the epicentre of LA power dining, the Polo Lounge has been the favourite spot for generations of stars and Hollywood deal-makers.”
Ripped jeans such as what Jenner said what she was wearing have had a resurgence in the 2020s. However, so-called “tiny” rip or not, they’re still against the dress code of the 80-year-old Polo Lounge. From the restaurant’s website:
At the Polo Lounge, we encourage you to dress for the occasion, so we ask that you refrain from wearing casual hats, ripped denim, crop tops, nightwear, swimwear and men’s sleeveless shirts. After 4pm, we do not permit shorts, flip-flops (including Birkenstocks) or sportswear (including tracksuits). Children under 10 are exempt.
Meanwhile, the Dorchester Collection is owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, which, in turn, is owned by the leader of Brunei, Sultan Hassanai Bolkiah. In 2014, the Sultan began implementing the Sharia Law penal code, which, “includes death by stoning, the severing of limbs, and flogging” in the country, “for crimes such as abortions, adultery, and homosexual acts.” (Wikipedia) Brunei’s Sharia Laws are only applicable within Brunei’s borders. However, the laws themselves were enough for many in the LGBTQ+ community to begin boycotting the Dorchester Collection brand, including the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Jenner, of course, is transgender (you know, the T in that LGBTQ+), but that apparently didn’t stop her from being a self-labeled patron for decades, even since the 2019 boycott. But TMZ is questioning or at least intimating perhaps that was part of the reason why she was refused service.
Who knows?
Anyway, interestingly, Jenner has since deleted the post from her Instagram account.

You know that the rules dont apply to the elites, silly!
Entitled idiot. Already showed it doesn’t follow basic rules.
Rules are for everyone. She should know better.
