Delta Adding Atlanta’s Famous Fox Bros. BBQ To Menu

by SharonKurheg

During the months when COVID was at its worst, airlines either limited meal service to pre-packaged fare, or eliminated it entirely, in the name of safety for both passengers and employees.

Happily, COVID cases in the US are on a downward trend, and airlines are bringing back meals on select flights, especially in first. For example, effective February 16th, American Airlines has been serving a choice of a hot protein or vegetarian entrée, plus an appetizer, salad and dessert, for those with domestic first class tickets on flights that are at least 3.5 hours. United has also upped their offerings for first class passengers on select flights.

However, Delta has some really exciting news!

For the past 15 years, Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q has been giving Atlanta a taste of Texas BBQ, but with a Georgia kiss. With a menu that includes fried pickles, brisket chili, pulled pork, smoked chicken, beef ribs, etc., it might even give all those amazing places in Lockhart, TX (we’ve been – oh my, it’s good!) a run for their money.

Fox Bros., which ran as a single store for its first 14 years, has finally expanded to 3 locations in the greater Atlanta area. They’re listed among the Ten Best Barbecue Restaurants in Atlanta. They get 4.5 stars on both TripAdvisor and Yelp and were even the Official BBQ of the Atlanta Falcons a few years back.

So what’s the next opportunity that’s up for Fox Bros.? Oh, just a sweet partnership with Delta Airlines….no big deal. đŸ˜‰

Like the other legacy airlines, Delta had been serving sandwiches, salads and bowls in first class and on long flights. Hot meals had been limited to international business class and first class on some cross-country domestic flights. However, “We’re continuing to bring back elements of the onboard experience we know our customers have missed,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s E.V.P. and Chief Customer Experience Officer. “Starting in March, First Class customers on select flights 900 miles or greater will again enjoy hot meals featuring local ingredients and favorite items. Menu highlights include ginger beer-braised Osso Bucco, wild mushroom ravioli, chicken cacciatore and French bread pizza.”

And an option for lunch or dinner on some long flights out of Atlanta? None other than Fox Bros.’ barbecued beef short ribs, prepared by Fox Bros. via their everyday smoking method.

This video is from 2018, but for us meat eaters, it gives a mouth-watering idea of those smoked beef short ribs:

I bet THAT will be some good eatin’!
