It wasn’t long ago when the car rental market was in chaos. Demand had returned to pre-pandemic levels but rental car companies didn’t have the vehicles to meet demand.
Making matters worse, a shortage of new vehicles due to supply chain issues resulted in the inability to replenish rental car fleets. High demand and limited supply led to sky-high prices and empty lots. Even if you were able to snag a reservation, there was no guarantee there’d be a car for you when you arrived.
We weathered the storm and there are signs that we’ve made it through the worst of it. That’s because we’re now seeing rental car companies offering discounted rates for the end of the summer.
Sixt is offering 25% off rentals through August 26th at the following locations:
- Miami
- Fort Lauderdale
- Palm Beach
- Fort Myers
- Orlando
- Tampa
- San Diego
- Denver
- Aspen
- Phoenix
- Las Vegas
- Albuquerque
- Washington Dulles International Airport
- Baltimore
- Charlotte
- Dallas
- San Antonio
- Houston
- Maui
The offer is valid for all vehicles except sports and luxury cars and rentals must begin on or before August 26th. A full list of terms and conditions can be found on the official SIXT website.
We’ve rented from Sixt before, in San Antonio, and had a great experience. Don’t forget to sign up for Sixt’s frequent renter program and apply for your status upgrade if you have a World Elite Mastercard.

I have a couple of trips this month and have been able to cut my rental costs by 25% to 50% just by rebooking. I hope we have turned a corner on this!
I just canceled and re-booked a car reservation I made several months ago for an upcoming trip to Hawaii. It saved me $200. I told my brother-in-law, who is also going on the trip, and he re-booked for a $300 savings.
