Last Chance To Get Free Travel Books Written By A Recently Departed Rock Legend, On Audible

OK, I’ll admit that I was embarrassingly late to realize how great of a rock band that Rush is. I used the verb “is” in that sentence because I’m still discovering many of their recordings decades after they were released. While I’ve been writing many of the posts on this blog over the last several years while listening to Moving Pictures or 2112 on my headphones, I’d never dug into a large portion of their vast catalog.

That all changed after the announcement of the death of their drummer and main lyricist, Neil Peart, on January 7, 2020, at the age of 67.

My subscription for Sirius XM recently added access to their mobile app. That meant I could listen to their stations wherever I was. After Neil’s passing, they started a Rush tribute channel, which is still on the air even though it was supposed to be for a limited time only.

When listening to the DJs talk about Neil’s life, I learned more about him and what a fascinating person he was. Besides being an unbelievable drummer and a masterful writer of lyrics, he also was an accomplished author.

One of his most popular books was the one he wrote about his travels after one of the most challenging times in his life, when he lost his daughter in a car accident and his wife to cancer within the same year. He left the band and went on a motorcycle journey covering 55,000 miles

I was interested in reading the book, especially after Neil had just succumbed after a three year battle with brain cancer. When I went to Amazon to get the book, I was happy to see this banner.

In light of Neil Peart’s passing, and in honor of his life and contributions to the world of audio, Audible is offering this work at no cost through January 28th, 2020.

How often is it that you see Amazon give anything away for free? Through Tuesday, you can download the Audible version of Neil Peart’s book Ghost Rider: Travels On The Healing Road for free.

I’ve already downloaded this to my phone and plan on listening to it on our upcoming trip. If you’re interested in more of Neil’s work, many of his other audiobooks are available to download at no cost:

The Masked Rider: Cycling in West Africa

Far and Away: A Prize Every Time

Traveling Music: The Soundtrack to My Life and Times

Far and Wide: Bring That Horizon to Me

Far and Near: On Days Like These

Roadshow: Landscape with Drums: A Concert Tour by Motorcycle

The free Audible downloads of all of these books are only available for a limited time. If you think you’d have any interest in them, why not download them now when there’s no cost to you?
