Casino Owner Giving Away 1000 Free Flights To Las Vegas

by SharonKurheg

To help jump-start Las Vegas’ tourist industry, a casino owner in Las Vegas is giving away 1,000 free flights to the city.

Derek Stevens is the owner of The D Las Vegas and Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, both on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. He announced plans earlier this week to give away one-way flights from several U.S. cities.

Casinos and other nonessential businesses were ordered to close in mid-March to help slow the spread of the COVID-19.  New safety guidelines for casinos were announced earlier in the month, but no date had been given as to when they could actually open. Finally, in a move that was greatly anticipated by thousands, Gov. Steve Sisolak gave the green light for the shuttered Nevada casinos to reopen, effective Thursday, June 4.

“As we begin to reopen our doors across the city, we are proud to help reinvigorate travel to Las Vegas while supporting airlines in America impacted by the COVID-19 crisis,” Stevens said in a statement. “While we’d love for visitors to stop by downtown Las Vegas, we primarily want to get people back to Las Vegas to experience the attractions and amenities that make it one of the greatest places on Earth.”

The flights, all in early-to-mid June, will originate from over 30 cities, including Appleton, Atlanta, Austin, Boise, Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Kansas City, Knoxville, Louisville, Memphis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Sioux Falls, South Bend, St. Louis, Tampa and Tulsa.

The terms & conditions of the free flights include:

Participants must be 21 +. All flights are confirmed one-way to Las Vegas. All returns flight arrangements are responsibility of customer.  One ticket per person. Only flight (air transportation) is included.  All other services, including but not limited to upgrades, bags, seat assignments and inflight purchases are responsibility of customer.
