Atlantis Paradise Island Announces Reopening Date, Offering Free Night

by SharonKurheg

Have you ever gone to Atlantis? Joe and I went once, YEARS and years ago. We were on a Disney Cruise and Atlantis was offered as an excursion when we stopped at Nassau for the day. In fact, our visit there is one of Joe’s favorite stories about me and my non-interest in sports. We were window shopping (well, *I* was window shopping; Joe was being polite and VERY patient. I think we were still dating at the time) and 50 feet ahead of us, we saw this REALLY tall guy come out of a jewelry shop. As I recall, they had to unlock the door of the shop to let him out.

Me: Wow, he’s TALL!
Joe (Looking): Sharon, that’s Michael Jordan.

Oops ;-). Hey, I don’t do sportsing!

Anyway, so maybe you visited Atlantis for the day on an excursion, or perhaps you’ve stayed there for a few nights and enjoyed its amenities as a full-service resort.

Whatever the case, Atlantis Paradise Island, in the Bahamas, has been closed since coronavirus hit. However they’ve recently announced that they’re finally reopening on December 10th. 🙂

Atlantis took advantage of its extended closure by doing some renovations to its Royal East Tower guestrooms. They’ll reopen those, along with their Harborside Resort villas and The Reef residential-style studios and suites when the resort opens its doors to guests next month.

“We are so excited to welcome back our loyal guests, families, and new visitors to experience Atlantis Paradise Island and reconnect with themselves and their loved ones,” said Atlantis President Audrey Oswell. “Atlantis will reopen in planned phases, and our highest priority is and will always be to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our guests, team members, and community.”

Much like what some resorts in Hawaii were considering at one point, Atlantis will have a “vacation in place” policy to ensure the health and safety of visitors and locals. With that, resort guests must stay on property through the duration of their stay. However, Atlantis’ property is 200 acres, with white sand beaches, several pools, multiple restaurant options, a spa, golf, and lots of attractions and entertainment on site. They’re also going to have brand new experiences tailor-made for families, small groups and couples. So there will be plenty for guests to do.

Of course, the resort also has a brand new Atlantis Clean & Safe Promise, which meets international and local standards for health and safety protocols.

To celebrate its reopening, the resort is offering a limited-time “first night free” offer. You have to book between now and November 22nd, and the offer is good for stays of 2 nights or more between December 10th and 17th, 2020. Room rates start at $299 per night (plus tax and resort fees).

Besides the “first night free” offer, Atlantis has several other specials available on their website.
