Southwest Airlines’ Special Events Only For Co-Brand Credit Card Holders

Banks and loyalty programs offer deals to attend special events for their members. Sometimes these are exclusive opportunities at one-off events, and others are for tickets to a major sporting event or concert. These promotions either cost a set price or may be run as an auction where members “pay” using points in their account.

Some of the more popular programs for these events are:

• Marriott Bonvoy Moments
• Hilton Honors Experiences
• American Express Experiences
• Citi Entertainment
• Chase Experiences
• Capital One Entertainment

While I knew of these programs, there was another loyalty program offering special events that I wasn’t aware of until recently.

The Southwest Airlines More Rewards program is only available to co-brand cardholders. A subcategory of the More Rewards program is Rapid Rewards Access Events, which offers “exclusive concerts and packages such as wine tasting, destination getaways & more.

I learned about this program from a Southwest Tweet advertising one of their exclusive concerts:

If you’re a country music fan, 5,000 Southwest points for a dinner and concert from Lainey Wilson is a great deal. Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa cardholders could purchase up to 6 tickets each. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one to realize this was a great deal. It was only up for 1 day and this is what you’ll get if you try to get tickets today.

Southwest’s program isn’t as robust as some of the other programs, as there are only 3 current events listed on the website.

Despite the lack of options, the pricing seems to be fair and gives another way to use your Southwest Rapid Rewards points instead of paying for flights. It’s an interesting play to only open these events up to co-brand credit cardholders. We’ll have to see if they offer more events or if they’ll keep it limited.
