I remember when I was maybe 10 years old, my aunt, who lived in southern California at the time, came to visit us for a week or so. We picked her up at JFK, and while waiting for her bags at baggage claim, we saw Richard Thomas, who, at the time, was still playing the role of John-Boy on the CBS drama series The Waltons.
Thomas was waiting for his bag at the same baggage carousel as my aunt, which meant he was on the same plane as her. I was thoroughly impressed – a CELEBRITY was on the same plane as NORMAL PEOPLE!
Of course, those thoughts came from 10-year-old Sharon who didn’t know any better, but yes, celebrities fly with us mere humans all the time. 😉 We’ve even written about how they act and are treated the same as everyday people:
- If airlines treat celebrities this badly, how do you think they’ll treat you?
- When the director of Modern Family live Tweeted about a passenger from hell
- The times when the Harry Potter star slammed Air Canada and American Airlines lost Dave Bautista’s luggage
- Or the dramatic times when Cardi B. got revenge on a fellow passenger on a Delta flight, and Mike Tyson punched a fellow passenger on his jetBlue flight
Of course, some celebrities are given more fanfare than others. Many fly private jets (some, like John Travolta, fly their own LOL) and may land to adoring crowds, police escorts, etc. Others may just get a warm-but-special welcome.
Take Snoop Dog, for example.
A couple of weeks ago, Snoop arrived at Glasgow Airport ahead of his show, part of the I Wanna Thank Me Tour, at the OVO Hydro. Snoop’s visit was a long time coming because he had to cancel the tour last year due to “unforeseen scheduling conflicts.” That forced him to delay the Scotland gig, which was originally meant to take place in late August 2022.
Glasgow was apparently so happy Snoop was finally there that they decided to install a bagpipe player on the ground at the airport. They chose musician Ross Ainslie as the man for the job.
Ainslie dressed for the occasion in a kilt and a high-visibility jacket (because the sound of bagpipes wasn’t enough to warn people he was there?!?! LOL!), but he chose not to serenade Snoop with a typical Scottish song.
Instead, he broke out into an epic rendition of “Still D.R.E,” by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog (here’s the original video of the song. Over 1 BILLION views so far!).
Ainslie told local newspaper Glasgow Live, “it was a very cool experience! I only had a day to suss out some music, but ‘Still D.R.E’ is a great pipe tune! Who knew?”
Snoop apparently loved it:
That's how you give a global superstar a Glasgow welcome 🏴
Well done on a great show Snoop Dogg! pic.twitter.com/le27hWpGHL

Ainslie apparently loved the opportunity – his Instagram shows a picture of him posing with Snoop:
And he even posted his arrangement of the song:
So yeah…it was a fun arrival at GLA for Snoop Dog. I hear his concert was pretty great, too!
