Man Attached Camera to Suitcase; Saw What Airport Does to Bags

by SharonKurheg

When most people fly, they probably don’t think about what happens to their checked bags. They drop them off at bag drop, they (hopefully) are reunited with them at the baggage carousel after the flight, and life goes on.

Of course, getting your checked bags from Point A (when you leave them) to Point B (when you get them back) is a HUGE undertaking that includes the work of many airport, airline and TSA employees.

Over the years, plenty of videos have been about the path bags take after you drop them off.

This is a bag’s journey through Sea-Tac in 2013, thanks to the Seattle Times.

Thrillist posted a similar video, back in 2017.

And then Khaleej Times made a video of Dubai International’s luggage handling system in 2018.

But frankly, I was kind of interested in seeing what happens from the bag’s point of view.

It didn’t take long to find some people who attached cameras to their checked luggage to see what happened to their bags during their respective journeys.

Thomas Miller has already gotten over 17.5 million views on this TikTok video, “Time to find out what the airport does with my bag.” He only posted it last month! (Note: it looks as if Miller copied a video short that Colby Eubanks posted as a YouTube short last year – that one has over 30 million views).

But, of course, he wasn’t the first to connect an itty bitty camera to his luggage.

Helsinki Airport posted “Helskini Airport through the eyes of a suitcase,” in March 2014.

And just 6 months later, in September 2014, someone posted a near-6 minute video of what their suitcase did on a connecting flight from Riga to Frankfurt to Madrid.

Kinda cool, huh?
