The Club Airport Lounges Now Offer Food To Order & It Needs Work

It’s been a while since we visited “The Club MCO” near gates 70-99. That’s because these gates mainly service Delta flights and since I got the AMEX Platinum Card we’ve been visiting the Delta Sky Club. It’s a nicer club with more seats, better food and decent coffee.

However, I have to pay $50 to bring Sharon into the Sky Club as a guest and we didn’t feel like paying extra for club access. We headed across the terminal to The Club MCO, which we can access with one of our many Priority Pass Select memberships.

We entered an almost empty club as we had a morning flight.

The first thing we noticed were several standing signs promoting the new “on-demand” food options at the club. Instead of a breakfast buffet spread, you can order hot food items with your phone.

a sign in a restaurantThey’re still available if you want cold items, like danishes, bagels, cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs or fruit.

I wanted to check out the hot items, figuring that if they’re offering an on-demand option there might be more than before. I scanned the QR code at our table and went to the website.

Sharon and I were, shall we say, underwhelmed by the options.

Oatmeal, eggs and potatoes. That’s the entirety of the options.

We each ordered eggs and potatoes. Condiments needed to be ordered separately. Our food was promised in 15 minutes or less. It took about 10 minutes to get our food delivered to the table.

Yes, the coffee cups are larger than the plates. It’s not an optical illusion. Also remember that this table isn’t large to begin with. To top things off, we were provided 1 fork and knife for the two dishes of eggs.

I wished I had ordered additional ketchup and hot sauce. And a double order of eggs.

Final Thought

I was excited when I saw the sign showing multiple options to order instead of limited choices from a buffet. However, only offering eggs is somewhat embarrassing and I can’t see the improvement here from having a chafing dish of scrambled eggs that occasionally needs refilling.

Now that I know what we’ll get from The Club MCO, I’ll reconsider returning to the Delta Sky Club on our next trip.
