Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is one of the hub cities for Delta Air Lines. This was advantageous for us as Delta offered the most non-stop flight options from Orlando with various departure times. Our travel dates were at the end of October. Although we weren’t concerned about severe winter weather affecting our plans, we wanted to ensure that we had ample options to reach our destination and return home in case of unforeseen circumstances.
I’m not a big fan of morning flights, but they’re the least risky as the plane will likely be at the airport the night before. This was a short weekend trip, and we wanted to get home, so I booked the first flight out on Sunday. To ensure we didn’t miss our flight, I scheduled an Uber with plenty of extra time to spare. Luckily, we hit the jackpot and reached the airport in record time, thanks to the lack of traffic. Check-in and bag drop was a breeze, and we were through security in no time. It was a stress-free start to our journey home!
I knew there were several Delta Sky Club locations at MSP so I pulled up the Delta App and looked for one on the way to our gate. The app showed two locations, and one was right by the exit from the TSA Checkpoint.

It was a nice-looking Sky Club location. I’d say it’s what I’d expect from Delta when visiting one of their hubs. As we checked in the desk agent scanned our boarding passes and informed us about our departing flight. She said we were welcome to stay here, but since our flight was leaving from the far side of Terminal G, we’d be much better off going to the brand-new Sky Club. She added, “It’s REALLY nice!”
She suggested grabbing a coffee here and heading to the other club, which is further away and less crowded. I overlooked the other club when checking the app because I didn’t scroll down to look for additional locations.
My initial impression of this first Sky Club was that it was satisfactory. The white walls and bright lighting reminded me of one of the Sky Clubs in a New York airport, although I couldn’t recall which one. The club consists of a single elongated room with a raised level with a bar and buffet and a lower seating area.
At the end of the room, there’s an additional section with more seating. This looks like it would be the quietest place in the lounge.
Even though it was 7:30 in the morning, the club was already starting to get busy—time to head to the other Sky Club.

As we made our way down the hallway of Terminal G, I couldn’t help but feel excited about the new Sky Club since it had just opened in April 2023. It’s a relatively new location, and I was eager to see what it had to offer since Delta has been hitting it out of the park with its recent locations, like the one at Laguardia Terminal C. Upon arrival, I was impressed by its size – it’s the largest of the three Sky Clubs at MSP, boasting a whopping 21,000 square feet of space. With seating for more than 450 people, it’s clear that Delta is trying to alleviate some of the overcrowding at its club locations.
One of the standout features of the new Sky Club is the Delta Sky Deck, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Even better, because this is Minnesota, the deck can be closed in for year-round use, making it a great spot to unwind no matter what the weather is like outside. The Sky Deck has its own bar, which makes it a good alternative if the central area is full.
For the brave, there’s an outdoor area with views of the airport. Since the temperatures were in the high 30s, few people were looking to sit outside.
Getting back to the club interior, it’s a relaxing space with plenty of natural tones.

The only part about the club that was disappointing was the food selection. I’m not implying that it was terrible, just that for breakfast it’s the same that you’ll find at any Sky Club in the US. There were more of the same egg omelets, potatoes, bacon, sausage and oatmeal. I’ve read that they have more original items for lunch and dinner, but it was a letdown that the breakfast food was the same as what was being served at the other Sky Club.
Final Thought
If you’re flying through Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) on Delta and have access to the Sky Club, I’d recommend checking out the new location at Terminal G. It offers a more spacious and modern environment with upgraded amenities, including a full-service bar and a year-round Sky Deck. However, remember that it’s a bit of a trek if you’re not departing from Terminal G, so it may not be worth the extra effort if you’re short on time. But if you have a longer layover or want to maximize your lounge experience, the new Sky Club is worth a visit.
