For several years, Chase has been offering quarterly spending bonuses for their credit cards. These bonuses usually include a multiplier on spending for specific categories such as gas stations or supermarkets. The purpose of these offers is to encourage you to use a credit card for your everyday expenses and hopefully, you’ll end up using it a bit more than usual.
I often receive offers that aren’t very valuable, such as bonus point offers from IHG or Marriott where the point value is less than 1 cent. This means that earning Ultimate Rewards points is more valuable to me. However, I have used the offers on my Disney Visa where earning 5X points is like getting a 5% rebate, and on Southwest where points are worth more than 1 cent, earning 5X points is equal to around 6.5% – 7%
I’ll also only receive an offer for a few cards, and I’ve never gotten a single offer on my World of Hyatt card. But this month, when I checked my cards at https://www.chase.com/mybonus, a strange thing happened. Every card popped up with the same offer for a rebate when paying for the MAX streaming service.
However, I also received an email with an offer for my Ritz Carlton Card. But to get that offer, I had to click on the link in the email to activate it.
I unknowingly double-dipped on the Chase offers and now have both the 5X offer and the MAX offer on the same card. What I’m saying is that if you receive an offer from Chase via email that you are interested in, enroll in it from the email. Of course, never click on a link in an email unless you’re sure it’s from a legitimate source.
While I usually go directly to the Chase site to enroll for the quarterly offers, it looks like it’s possible to get a different offer than the one that was sent directly to you when using this method.
