TSA PreCheck Is Offering Another Discount — But Only for Certain Travelers

TSA PreCheck Is Offering $20 Off — But There’s a Catch

by SharonKurheg

TSA PreCheck discounts are becoming surprisingly common lately.

But the government’s newest promotion comes with one very specific requirement: your age.

In the past year or so, TSA PreCheck has become available for free or at a discounted rate, either for select groups or as a limited-time “sale”:

  • July 2025: $25 discount for military spouses (ongoing)
  • July 2025: Free access to Gold Star families (ongoing)
  • July 2025: $15 discount for “Families on the Fly”
  • August 2025: BOGO PreCheck
  • November 2025: BOGO PreCheck

The government is now doing that again, but this time with a different select group – specifically specifically travelers age 30 or younger. And if you’re in that category, you may be able to get $20 off your TSA PreCheck.

They’re calling it TSA PreCheck $20 Take Off (which is very grammatically incorrect but they didn’t check with me LOL).

Of course, there’s some specific eligibility to take advantage of the offer:

But if you’re eligible you’ll automatically get a $20 discount by enrolling in TSA PreCheck through any of the Transportation Security Authority’s authorized enrollment providers: CLEAR, IDEMIA, and Telos.

FAQs:

Do you need a promo code? No. Eligible customers will be notified about the $20 discount when paying in person at enrollment completion.

What if you turn 31 years old in May? If you turn 31 years old in May, make sure to complete your in-person portion of application before you turn 31 to get the discount. If you complete enrollment after you turn 31, you won’t be eligible for the promotion.

What if you start your application in May and complete enrollment later? To get the $20 discount, your enrollment must be completed between May 1 and May 31, 2026. Applications finished after May 31 won’t get the discount.

Does this apply to renewals? No, the TSA PreCheck $20 Take Off is for new memberships only.

If you’re eligible for the military spouse discount, can you use both discounts? Nope. No piggybacking 😉

TSA Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill said in a press release, “As young adults embark on new adventures — whether it’s travel for school, work, or fun — TSA PreCheck offers a quicker and smoother airport security experience with this special discount, we’re empowering the next generation of travelers to make TSA PreCheck a part of their journey.”

TSA PreCheck has clearly entered its “frequent sale” era.

And while this newest promotion won’t help older travelers save money, it’s another sign that the government is trying to get more people enrolled—especially younger travelers who may be flying more for school, work, and vacations.

Of course, if you’re 31? Apparently you’re already too old for the cool kids’ discount. 😏 And, of course, nothing says “welcome to adulthood” quite like aging out of a TSA promotion. 😉
