Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- You never know who you’re going to run into when you’re traveling. Heck, we just saw Bill Nye, you know, The Science Guy, at a show we were seeing when we were in New York. That far away encounter is dwarfed by the traveler this week who shared a story with Pizza in Motion about an encounter with Rudy Giuliani in the Emirates Lounge men’s room at the Milan Airport.
- We’ve visited the British Museum before and it was very interesting, but we were really jetlagged and I can’t remember much of the trip besides seeing the Rosetta Stone and having gelato at a nearby restaurant. Turns out many of the “artifacts” were obtained during the time of the British Empire and several of those former colonies now want their historical stuff back. A performance art troupe recently held a “Stolen Goods” tour of the museum pointing out many of the items obtained by questionable means.
- Many people were upset when Chase changed over to Expedia for travel bookings as Disney hotels and tickets were no longer bookable with Chase Ultimate Rewards Points. Doctor of Credit reports that is changing and Disney (tickets) are now bookable again through the Chase portal, at least for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders.
- Greg from Frequent Miler writes about his transition pains after trying to switch from being a loyal iPhone user to using a Google Pixel phone after getting in on the “too good to be true” deal that Google ran over Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I don’t care how good the deal, Sharon’s never getting rid of her iPhone with the GBs and the WiFi (weefees). The video is very old and VERY NSFW but you get the idea.
- Gary from View From The Wing wrote about “the struggle” of getting a significant other to use the correct credit card for each purchase. I’ve come up with my own system for us but I think if I ever tried what the person in this article does, Sharon would smother me with a pillow in my sleep (Note from Sharon: True story!).
- I read an article from Thrifty Traveler about how Delta wants to you to spend your SkyMiles to pay for checked bag fees and other ancillary charges. Please don’t waste your miles this way since you can get a free checked bag just by having the Delta Gold AMEX card.
- The theme parks in central Florida really step up their game in terms of food offerings during the holidays. Sean from Inside the Magic reported on what Universal Studios Orlando has to offer and it looks amazing.
- Lucky wrote on One Mile at a Time about how there might be a new flight from JFK to the Faroe Islands. It looks like an amazing place to visit and being able to get there non-stop from the US would be a great option.
- Finally, I’d like to not share this article from Business Insider about what it’s like to fly in domestic First Class. I’m not sharing it because it’s one of the most annoying types of articles I’ve seen in a while. While I was interested in what they had to say about flying first class, having to scroll through endless pictures and clicks just frustrated me to no end. It was was like one of those “Do this, not that” posts. I’ll sum it up. Domestic first class isn’t that fancy. The seats are a little better. You get free drinks and there’s more legroom is better but not much. If you want those fancy seats you see in the ads, you need to fly over an ocean somewhere, and not just to the Caribbean or Hawaii but all the way across. If you still want to read the article, you can find it here but I warned you.
Like this post? Please share it! We have plenty more just like it and would love if you decided to hang around and clicked the button on the top (if you’re on your computer) or the bottom (if you’re on your phone/tablet) of this page to follow our blog and get emailed notifications of when we post (it’s usually just two or three times a day). Or maybe you’d like to join our Facebook group, where we talk and ask questions about travel (including Disney parks), creative ways to earn frequent flyer miles and hotel points, how to save money on or for your trips, get access to travel articles you may not see otherwise, etc. Whether you’ve read our posts before or this is the first time you’re stopping by, we’re really glad you’re here and hope you come back to visit again!
