We’ve heard of some really clever travel deals in our time. There was the hotel bar that gave a incremental discount based on how high its customers’ high heels were. The company that gave you miles in exchange for unwanted holiday gifts. And don’t forget the hotel that offered a free stay to one person who returned an item that had been stolen from said 125-year-old hotel.
But this deal is even cooler. Or should we say hotter…
The super swanky W Dubai – The Palm opened in early 2019. The hotel has 350 guests rooms and suites, 7 restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness space, amazing amenities, and views galore. It gets a rating of 4.4 out of 5 on its own site, 4.5 on Tripadvisor, Orbitz and Expedia, 4.7 on Facebook, and 8.7 out of 10 on Booking.com.
It’s a Category 7 Marriott hotel, so it costs 60,000 points per night, or you can pay cash starting at about $185 per night. But you may be able to get some really good discounts this summer.
Well, if the weather hold up, that is.
From June 9th through August 31st, the W Dubai – The Palm is offering a discount at its AWAY Spa and several of its restaurants and bars (Torno Subito, Akira Back, WET Deck, LIV, SoBe and W Lounge), and it’s all based on the outside temperature.
30 to 34°C (86 to 93°F) = 20% off
35 to 39°C (95 to 102°F) = 25% off
40 to 44°C (104 to 111°F) = 30% off
45 to 49°C (113 to 120°F) = 35% off
Over 50°C (122°F) = W Dubai – The Palm will pay for your bill
The average temperatures in Dubai range from 26 to 38°C (79 to 100°F) in June, 29 to 40°C (84 to 104°F) in July and 30 to 41°C (86 to 106°F) in August. So figure you’re almost guaranteed a 25 to 30% discount if things run average and who knows, you may luck out and get yourself a free spa package or meal if they have a heat wave.
The deal is good from 10am to midnight and the discount is applicable on the temperature that’s displayed (they’ll have W branded thermometers available for temperature confirmation) at the time of payment.
Oh, and one more thing – to get the deal, guests have to tag the restaurant/spa and the temperature on social media and show it to the staff. I think that’s a pretty small price to pay for some pretty hot discounts.
*** Many thanks to Michael G. for the heads up about this topic!
